Addiction 2021.3

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My basketball team played your high school for four years. Our hoops team was better.

Seeing it now on the laptop, I might still call white oak. When trees get that big and that old, their skin changes enough to be unrecognizable except under close examination. Like us.

I was like, "wut" Not even knowing what he was referring to.

Anyway, I wonder what my notes said for that appointment. Probably not "pleasant."
I had very neatly the same experience with my old Dr. Office. She wanted my Driver's license, insurance card, and debit card for the CO pay. I plopped them down on her blotter one at a time, like a dealer at a card game. The next thing I know I was being accused of throwing my cards at "her" receptionist. I let her and the rest of her staff know in no uncertain terms how incorrect she was and what they all could do with their services. If you are that effing sensitive what the hell are you doing dealing with the public in the first place? Grow up.

Just a few years ago I could buy Fender guitar parts that weren't perfect for hardly anything. put together a decent instrument for cheap,, sometimes fix it sometimes not. Now it's a feature to have it all beat to snot. And it's an upcharge for that "played in look" absolutely the dumbest thing ever.
A brand new guitar that looks like someone dragged it down a gravel road behind a car? So if I run it through a woodchipper it's now priceless?

Some guys put so much effort trying to understand something that when they think they do understand it, and you try to rock that certainty with facts contrary to their argument, it trips the breaker in thier mind. "Then I have to relearn all of this again and that means I don't really understand it now so hell no, I'm not doing that again...."
I understand how d.c. current works. But a.c. trips that breaker for me. I just can't figure it out. I know if I do this and this and attach this wire to that I'll get this. But how and why makes my brain shut down.

Worked my 3rd 20 plus hour shift last night for the week. I'm too old for that shiz. And I'm still on call for 2 more days. Swearing about it just isn't cutting it anymore.

I was at an gathering of the olds. Sat down at a table with some people for lunch. I didn't know them, but my dad did.

The first thing the guy said was "You remember when" and then--I kid you not--he mentions a meeting in Sharpsburg, at Buhl Park. It was amazing.
