Yet another Basso

Hi all,

I found this bike for sale (for about $400) and I like its looks. Could you give me more details regarding the model and perhaps the value?

Thank you

Others will ask for possible information about type of tubing and things , but the bike is worth $400 -- thats not a great "buy it and flip it" price, but thats a nice price for a rideable BAsso with a Campagnolo Victory build

You can check the seatpost, if its a 26.8 it may be a Tre Tubi , or Aelle or Cromor bike, --- if its a 27.2, could be an SL bike -- either way, its worth it but most will say that a TreTubi or Aelle bike is not valued as high

Could be the Arrenaccia. It was a bit more budget conscious and usually Tretubi SL with Aelle stays.

Year is tough to tell, but early 80s maybe? I’m guessing 1981 in the year but not sure about the model.

i think the Campy stuff was retrofitted...if 1984 was the year it came out.

That seems correct, the seller says 1981.

I am attaching a few more low res pics for the eagle eyed amongst you

This is really helpful, thank you!

The style of painting, for me, places about 1988. Is the fork a replacement?

I have no other information apart from Modolo brakes, Campagnolo Victory group and "original painting and decals".
So it could be anything

If the Victory components are original from the manufacturer, the bike is most likely a mid level model from Basso, with probably a Columbus Tretubi or Cromor tubeset. On the road, it will be very hard or impossible to tell it from the higher spec SL tubed models, unless maybe, if you are a pro level champion caliber rider that splits your times in milliseconds.

I could easily be wrong, but after 1984 they went more to the panel decals. This looks more like a style reminiscent of Rossins from the early 80s.

If the group is original, then I am completely off on my 1981 guess...which would not be the first time.
