IS-to-PM Adapter for 170mm Rotors: Does Such a Thing Exist?

... or does one need to get creative with spacers and washers to make it work? I've seen this SRAM/Avid +30mm rear adapter, but all I found for the front brake was this kit; I never could never find a proper "170mm" adapter.

Searching around I found quite a number, such as these from Wiggle or this one from Amazon (UK).

I also found a number on Ebay. I think part of the confusion is that a number of them are described as post to IS mounts, but when you read the text they are actually for mounting on IS frames/forks.

I'm sorry - I think you missed the point of my OP. The question was about adapters to suit a specific (and largely obsolete) rotor size, and not about mounting interfaces. There's no shortage of IS-to-PM adapters for 160mm, 180mm and 203mm (front) out there, but there are no 170mm adapters to be found.

Sorry, I have a tendency to only read the highlights! Would it not make sense, then, to put on a 180mm rotor? Though, as you say, adding spacers ought to do the trick.

So, how, then, did old-timey MTBers fit old-timey disk brakes with 165mm and 170mm rotors to old-timey MTBs in the 1990s and 2000s?

they used v-brake pad pivot dish washers as spacers or they machined a mount out of raw metal.

two 5mm stacks... and two longer bolts.

the pivot can also be used to align the caliper during a standard centering adjustment.

What about the early factory disk brake bikes? What kinds of adapters did they use?
