First post for me!

Sorry for the ****ty picture. Taken on a November ride of the C & O Canal path. Couldn't find my Big Agnes pad at the very last minute, had to jury rig the Thermarest on. In the next couple of weeks it's getting Albatross bars, a Surly front rack, and putting the old Campy seatpost back on.

Been debating with myself whether to swamp out the components for newer stuff, or to keep all the original stuff on. Maybe a mix of both?

A few days cc touring, the location should be obvious to most. A soft bed and jacuzzi after a long ride is very hard to beat.

First overnight trip of the year and with a warm bed at both ends was only carrying about 40 pounds of gear including water... and was still carrying too much.

It was a good shakedown ride as I saw snow, rain, got to race with the wind and almost got blown off my bike at the end of the ride because the winds were so fierce and dropped into the valley on my way home as to shelter from the aforementioned winds and avoid dust and sand they were kicking up... which meant I got to do a little bit of climbing on my way out.

1987 Kuwahara Cascade...

DukeArcher, great photos.

Sixty Fiver, is that just a rear rack fixed to the front of your bike? I was thinking of doing that with an old rear rack I have. My bike did have Blackburn low riders on it but I don't like them and thought of trying the rear rack instead of buying another low rider design.

Nice Pic with the blue background.

Did you get the video from the other day?

Don't forget to load the front wheel spokes with Clif bars. Haha

Cannondale Caffeine F1, loaded

Here's mine: a Cannondale Caffeine F1 with a Lefty, some tour-specific customisation: https://www.flickr.com/photos/2444394...7623759023932/

Pardon the quality of the photograph: it was snapped through my iPhone (didn't take heavy camera & lense. Next time I might take something smaller along, such as a Micro 4/3, EVIL or Ricoh GXR with an A12 module).

Mate, you're the only touring Lefty Cannondaler, along with myself, that I know! That's a nice one you have there, a Rize?
And your girlfriend's KHS shares the geometry of my sweetheart's pink Cannondale Féminine (hers has a headshok, etc.).

I'd been contemplating a Rohloff & a SON dynamo (the SON delux, in red, most likely). Lamenting the non-existence of Lefty-compatible current generating solutions, a week ago I called Schmidt Original Nabendynamo to enquire if the matter could be addressed by some means or another. I was told that SON entertained the idea enough to sooner or later start a production of such a hub; that they had even approached Cannondale for co-operation, but the latter showed much reluctance. However, that didn't discourage SON. The man warned me that it would take a little while (well over a year, at any rate) but I ought not to despair, as such a dynamo was being conceived.

I'm saying this because, if you, too, like your Cannondale, but miss a portable device (such as a smartphone or a GPS unit) charging property, good dynamo lights (such as Schmidt Edelux, SuperNova E3 or IQ Cyo), etc. - it would make sense to show your support for the initiative by calling Schmidt. For more information, see nabendynamo [dot] DE .

Regards, and enjoy your upcoming journey

1991 Schwinn CrissCross rattle canned John Deere green, and rebuilt with mostly older Deore MTB componets. This is on her maiden voyage of 140 miles in 2 days on the New River Trail in SW Viginia.

Does anyone have a preference between a handle bar bag or a basket for touring?

Basket absolutely, I have had a few but I can't find the perfect size...when I do find it, it will be touring nirvana.
