I've had many a warm day... looking around for the nearest shade tree to repair the flat (or other repairs). Not always possible, but it can help. On occasion I've done repairs in a campground or picnic area with park benches.

That’s the only kind I’ve had this year. Our trails have been so much rougher this year due to flood damage. Both of my bikes got slow leaks overnight, and both times, the leak was not a new puncture but rather an old patch that had worked for months and then suddenly started to leak again after a brutal ride.

Out on a ride, I’d prefer summer. In the winter my hands really suffer from the cold if I have to take gloves off and I ride a lot down to about freezing so there is definitely a chance it can happen. It’s actually the biggest inhibiting factor to riding in even colder temps. Once I was able to bum a quiet indoor spot at a city rec center to do the repair on a freezing cold day when I flatted nearby.

August is the worst time for a flat. That's when my valet and a lot of the other staff take their vacation.

Really can't keep good help these days. I had to fire my chief bicycle attendant when he failed to change my flat immediately, mouthing some folderol about needing to stay at the death bed of his child.

Winter for sure. You’ll roast to death on the side of the road fixing a flat in the summer in Arizona

I installed new tubeless tires in my driveway this afternoon and I think I lost about 6 lbs in process

I prefer my flats occur overnight in the garage. When I find them before a ride, I just take another bike. Flat tires are work for mañana.

They’re so cheap I started replacing tubes every spring as part of routine maintenance. Haven’t had a flat in 20 years. Seems like all the flats I ever had were blowouts of old tubes, never punctures.

right before getting back from a ride, so i can fix it at home in the air conditioned basement with a work stand!
not at the start, where i was planning to leave, but now there is a 20 min delay
or in mid ride where it;s 15 miles back home
and rain/cold/heat

During the year i went tubeless,I actually had MORE flats than i was used to. I destroyed three tires. Then I quit tubeless.

Interesting. What type of sealant were you using?

The only near flat I had was when I was using Stan’s. As soon as I located some Orange Seal I switched over and haven’t had a single issue. Judging by the sealant spray on my bike and the number of sealant boogers, I’m probably averaging over a dozen sealed punctures over the life of my tires.

Yup. Sounds like ****** sealant and a poor choice in tire, possibly a race-day-only jobber, like the original Pro One.

I'm inclined to think they were crappy tires (I needed new wheels, and they came with them) and a run of bad luck, some of it, my fault.
For instance: I'm in my driveway on my bike, about to leave. I notice on the fence at the back of my driveway (wooden, stockade type) there's a slat broken out and knarly piece sticking out in my driveway (the new neighbors had children practicing hockey in their back yard, slamming hockey pucks into and over the fence).
I go back to investigate and: didn't notice the slat on the ground, with the nail sticking straight up, and rolled right over it. Intstan huge hole.
The other things weren't as stupid on my part, but I did NOT like messing with those things. Taking one off and putting one on? OW!
And in the year since, with more miles, I haven't had any flats.

Never. Which is why I went to tubeless 3 yrs ago. So far, zero flats.
