Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But they ride so nice.

At least this puncture was one I didn't know happened. Most of them recently have been awful.
Put a hole in my rear P1 Addix TLE this morning, but was not aware of it until I got home. I much prefer these. Not really sure what is going on with the roads around here this year or if I'm just having bad luck.

Have this Sunday - the course is super dry so it should be relatively fast, I'm going down with a buddy of mine so I'll most likely be matching his pace, it'll be a nice little stroll.

I missed this omnium event during the Olympics. I don't know weird rules, so maybe I didn't miss so much. Just wondering, though--are people who race here specialists on the track only?

Yeah, I thought that I had some bad road conditions, in terms of punctures, but you've had a really ****** streak going, lately.

Looks like a fun ride - 65/6400 on gravel could certainly be hurty at a fast pace, but would make for a nice soul ride when not trying to kill oneself.

The standard summer weather is it gets hot, and then there is a thunderstorm that cools things off.

It doesn't get hot during a thunderstorm.

I was riding my dirt bike in the desert when a thunderstorm rolled in. Lightning struck close enough to scare the crap out of me and in my haste to get going, I dropped the bike in a gulley full of water when I got half way over it and stalled the engine and couldn't reach the ground. Sort of like a clipless fall. Anyway, got going again, soaked to the skin, and hauled ass back to my truck. The sun came out and by the time I got to the truck, I was completely dry.

I don't trust your weather analysis.

You should. I'm a keen observer of the weather. Except for pressure--I don't pay much attention to that.

Of course!

In other insurance weirdness, I have a prescription for diclofenac sodium topical 1% which is cheaper for me than OTC.

Three of us were out riding and the sky was turning black so we stopped and checked a few weather radars and forecasts and decided that it would be at least a couple hours until it hit us. Of course, we got drowned 20 minutes later and rode at least 10 miles in pouring rain.

I don't get it either. My BP prescriptions are 100% covered by our insurance, but the only cholesterol med that my body tolerates costs about $300 a month.

Big ride (for me) today. 52 miles and 4200' up to Caesar's Head and back.

The main climb is about 6.5 miles and 2000' - most of it at 6-8% with a flat spot in the middle and I saw a couple 15% numbers come up on my Wahoo. Naturally, the steepest sections are at the very end

Was very grateful for the 11-32 I decided to put on when building the Holdsworth

The descent had me reevaluating whether or not I want to get crabon wheels for this thing. Maybe just some lighter weight alloy would be more appropriate.

This is the one I was thinking of. It's a little funkier.
