28x1 1/2 Westwood stainless steel 32&40H rims
Hello to all. I am also looking for a pair of 28 x 1 1/2 Westwood stainless steel rims (also known as 40-635 size?)with 32 holes and 40 holes. These are to go onto my Raleigh,Nottingham-made roadster.
No 36 holes please as I want to match them to my old Sturmey Archer brake hubs which are 32/40. No alloy/aluminium rims either please.
It seems that s/steel rims for this size and holes are VERY hard to come by. I am not too concerned with the brand name,as long as they are s/steel of the right size&holes. But I will be tempted to consider a pair of steel Sturmey Archer rims if they come along at the right price 😁 . Anyway,if anyone can help me out, please reply.
Thanks, all the best and GOD BLESS.
Sincerely,
W.L.SOON,Malaysia

These are listed as 28 x 1 1/2
https://www.dutchbikebits.com/tradit...cle-wheel-rims
They appear to have chrome plated stainless, 36h. And, dirt cheap... relatively speaking, depending on the actual shipping cost.

Thanks to both of you for sharing. Yes,I have visited the two websites before but no 32/40h stainless steel in that size. I can get generic China-made Westwood rims back home,if I want to. YellowJersey's KW are India-made,if I am not mistaken? But I would like to try looking for the s/steel ones for the time being.
Thanks again for sharing. All the best.

You might try this company:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...015625196.html
Of course China is upside-down right now so it could take some time, but they might be able to do the size/holes you need.

No respond from the companies.....
Hi. Well,I have tried contacting the companies like KAD in India as listed in the link. But I have yet to get any response from them;perhaps they are only interested in bulk orders, you know,in the thousands 😁. I just need TWO pieces......32H and 40H. No 36H please.
Anyway,if you good folks know of any other places that might sell these s/s rims or maybe you yourselves have extra sets to let go,please share/reply,or pm me.
Thank you,all the best and GOD BLESS.

Thanks Jeff.
Hello Jeff. Thank you.
Yes,I have been following eBay UK for some time. Those 28" rims do pop up once in a while but mostly are standard steel ones. I did see stainless steel ones but they were 36H. But still I am hoping that suitable ones would come along. Thank you and all the best to you.

while it is more expense, I have bought an entire bicycle, had it shipped by Shiply ( cheap shipping ) to a UK bike shop wheels removed then posted to me here in the US. Waiting for s/s rims to pop up by themselves is quite indeed rare. I should have been clearer in my prior response, my apologies.

Hi Jeff.
Ah,I see now. That makes sense, but I'm afraid that buying a whole bike and having it shipped to Malaysia just for the rims is beyond my limited budget. I guess I'll just have to hang around here and eBay much longer......😁
Thanks again and all the best to you.

Rims acquired,thank you to all.
Hello to all here.
Just want to update you good folks that I have bought a set of used Dunlop stainless steel 28"×1 1/2" 32&40H Westwood rims for my ride. Got them off from eBay UK back in late 2020. It was an auction and there were other bids so they did not come cheap.I have yet to get them fitted to my bike as I am still looking for the correct length s/steel spokes with shipping to Malaysia. So I won't be needing another set of such rims for any time soon.
Thank you to all who has helped and shared their input. Much appreciated. Thanks again, take care, stay safe and all the best to you all.

I too could use a pair of these rims. Mr. Soon was lucky to find those.
I have thought about buying a brand new Indian clone roadster bike and breaking it for parts.
Does anyone on here know a) what the rims would be made of b) how many holes? c) expected quality?
If you are ambitious you could count the spokes in the pictures!
These current crop below appear to be 1 speeds with I wonder how many holes?
