Converting front Spinergy Rev X from quick release to bolt on.

My new front wheel (rev x) has a quick release skewer and I'd like to convert it to bolt on mainly to avoid a crime of opportunity. I lock the wheel to the frame almost all the time but occasionally I don't have anything to lock to that will allow me to lock my wheel and frame to it. I do realize that it would still be super easy to steal with just a 15mm wrench but it at least thins out the risk from those not carrying hand tools.

I've heard that the spinergy rev x has a unique type of bearing or hub so it may not be as straightforward as I hope. Any ideas?

Why not just used a bolt on skewer, these can be bought with standard or securtiy bolts, or carry a small cable lock to put around the front wheel, which could be looped into your main lock.

If you are concerned with loosing the wheel to theft, is it too bling to be used in an area where that is possible?

For the bolt on you are asking for to use with a 15mm wrench, you would need a threaded axle, which track hubs would have, not a high end wheel like the rev x.

That bolt on skewer sounds like what I'm looking for. Thanks!

There are bolt-on skewers and those without handles that require a 5 mm allen wrench to operate. Either would be as secure as a bolt on hub.

I'm +1 on carrying a double loop cable to increase the stuff
you include in your lock.

Though I use the Allen wrench QR skewer
that Schmidt includes with their hubs.. too
