So, I have to girls, aged 7 and 9. I'm not a fan of all the kids on big bikes, so if like to get some decent BMX bikes for them. That said, I'm sticking to very entry level, as I'm positive they won't be used for jumping or anything other than basic bike rides. I've been leaning towards the framed bikes, specifically the verdict or impact, the latter being their basic basic. I understand by BMX standard, they're not awesome. However, for basic riding, will they be good bikes? Of the two, which would you get, I don't really know this world. I'm a MTB guy. Please, any help is appreciated, just keep in mind 250$ is the cap for each of them, so the big brands are out. Thank you all.

My biggest concern would be the brakes — they only have one, and entry-level U-brakes aren’t known for their stopping power. Also, modern BMX bikes don’t really let the rider pedal while sitting down — at least not with any leg extension. For all-around bike riding, I’d probably opt for something not as purpose-specific.

BMX bikes have really long crank arms. They are intended to be ridden while standing, jumping, doing tricks, etc...Using the seat for sitting will put the kids knees in their chest while riding. Hugely inconvenient & impractical.

A kids bike should be able to be pedaled around the cul-de-sac.

Check your local Craigs-marketplace-offer site. Kids bikes are a dime a dozen. Jett makes some pretty decent aluminum lightweights. A Trek Precaliber might be a bit cheaper. Specialized HotRock will do the job too. I think Giant does the ATX.

Find a local co-op. Ours gives kids bikes away to encourage riding and learning to ride. Yours may do likewise. Smiles, MH
