Hello,
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Gene (username, darnet), I grew up in Florida, and I now live in NH. I got my first road bike in high school, it was a used 1973 Raleigh Super Course (Capella lugs). Since then, I have been partial to Raleigh's for purely sentimental reasons, i guess. Including that one, I have owned a total of 6 SC's. A Raleigh Sports 3 speed was my first non-coaster brake bike, and the first bike I flew over the handlebars. [as an aside -- other handlebar flights included on a Puch something (truck drove me to curb, 2013), and a Bianchi Eros (riding on gravel road, approaching intersection, distracted by car approaching from behind, shoe then stuck in clipless pedals, then hit transition to soft sand)].
I've had a couple of Raleigh Competitions, and I recently got an International! Among my current ridable stable are 2 SC's, both 1973's, both acquired during the lost year(+) of COVID. The first, from the earliest days of COVID shutdown, is coffee color, just like my old high school/college bike. I bought it complete minus crank, bottom bracket, derailleurs, and shifters. Everything else was original. $80, I built it up using spare parts in my basement. The other is green, bought it complete (a complete mess, that is) for $45, and have spruced it up for a C&V Clunker challenge elsewhere on this forum.

Thank you for running this forum, it is very informational and entertaining.

Welcome!

I used to own a mint condition 1972 SC in coffee. It was a shame that it was too small. So I sold it.
