More upgrades. I went to my LBS to see if it was possible to change cogs on my 7 speed freewheel to increase the speed. No such luck, freewheels are old technology and supply chain issues exist. The current gearing goes from 14 to 28. The LBS then went to see in his basement. In the back under boxes, he found a 20’´ Shimano Freehub, ZAC4019 BMX wheel in new condition. He sold it to me for US$30, added a Shimano 7 speed cassette in 11-28. Now I think this must be an early holiday gift.

I’m waiting for my studded winter tires for my Dahon. With winter now here (see picture)it s time to think more about upgrades, good or bad, to my Lombardo. I now have a freehub 7 speed 11-28 Shimano cassette. I’m now looking at the 3x crankwheel 52-42-30. With the new cassette, the small crank is really unecessary in an urban setting. Should I go with a 2x. Should I just change setting of the front derailleur so it only works on the med and large crank? Should I remove the small crank, it has bolts not rivets? If so do I need to realign and center the whole crankwheel with the cassette? Spacers? The 42 crank is the one I will use the most. Thanks
