When I ride my fully-geared road bike, sometimes I track-stand at traffic lights just for the game of it.

You put your right foot in
You put your right foot out
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about!

I use automotive motor-oil on my chains whenever they get noisy, you can often get partial bottles or cans of it and garage and estate sales for ten-cents to fifty cents. Dust seems to collect on the chain, then of course it gets on my calf now and then. I never worry about it, but if my wife sees it on there she will wipe it off so it does not get on the furniture or bed. I never take baths, and almost never shower, I just wash here and there using a wash-cloth. Bathing and showering often is very bad for your health, especially for those living in cities where the water is chlorinated and fluoridated. Quit bathing and you blend in with nature, flies will not be able to find you because they home in on the perfume in soaps and shampoo, birds and rabbits etc. will come close to you and you will have an easier time bagging them for supper.

Don't forget the rats -- they will sit on your lap like a Pekingese after you quit bathing.

My grease stain looks like Jesus, some catholic nuns were chasing me but I smoked them an easy 666 watts which is my normal FTP.

I alternate feet to equalize wear on my cleats. But then of course I wax my chain.

Grease stains are a clear sign of someone who’s leg came into contact with their chainring. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's a careless mistake if it has consequences. This is a classic "cool kids will laugh at you" kind of thing. To me, nothing marks a wannabe more than getting self-righteous about other people's chain marks. It's obvious that the disdain is a ploy to get status.

It's never happened to me, personally. But then again, all the oil on my chain is inside, where it belongs, not on the outside collecting dirt and tattooing people who don't know how to properly lubricate and clean their chain.
