Looking for a location

Watched a copy of Don't Make Waves the other night. Anyone know where this shot is from along the PCH? I've watch a few riding down the PCH on youtube and can't seem to spot the area. Thanks

According to IMDB, that 1967 comedy was filmed in Malibu. So we know at least that much. That looks like Paradise Cove in the background. Or maybe the El Matador Beach area?

looks like the stretch of pch west of las flores and east of carbon canyon/carbon mesa. shot from carbon canyon area
(or more likely, the unnamed and probably gated/private splinter road just off to the left on the way up.

underrated movie. great title track by the byrds. tony curtis was outstanding as usual. sharon tate (in an early role) along with claudia cardinale
didn't exactly hurt. seem to remember jim backus (aka the millionaire in gilligan's island) playing a semi-prominent role for a spell in that movie as well.

Also Dave Draper who was Schwarzenegger long time friend and workout mate. Something I didn't know until looking for the film locations. I have found the location shot from "It's a mad mad mad world" where they drive off the PCH to find the big W.

My wife loves that movie. Jonathan Winters was a gem. How bout the Cajon Pass as a 2 lane road?

Here's another view from the same spot? Appears in the film to be the opposite side of the house.

Not the scene in question though. I am intrigued. Very high point to be so close to the PCH.

No Idea why I'm here but like this?

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0401.../data=!3m1!1e3

I'd guess from up near Ridgemont drive with a telephoto.

That looks pretty good. I'm just curious how much things have changed over the years. Never been to Cal and loved the views in the movie when I first saw it. I got a kick riding along in the uber rides I found on YouTube. Couldn't place these shots from the vids.

Yep that's "the cove" alright. The little patch of whitewater at the top of the screen @ 45 secs in absolutely fires on a long-period west swell. You probably had fun on that punchy last bit of Paseo Del Mar up to P V D West.

it's harsh but doable. i'll ride it about once a year...that and the tight stretch of pv dr west near the (illegal left turn onto paseo del mar heading northbound)
to the fire/police station/4 way malaga cove plaza i-section that they refuse to put a light at out of historic principle
(still waiting for the mother of all entitled traffic circles to be installed there in my lifetime). 4 out of 5 times i ride peevee in that area,
i'll take the handy dandy via montemar to/from via del monte and pvdw.

Meant to respond and forgot. I saw this with my father when it was released. The whole theater was filled with laughter when he tore the gas station apart fighting the two owners and riding the girl's bike. I can't guess how many times I've seen it over the years. Don't know about Cajon Pass, east coaster.

In honor of this post, I decided to dedicate my longer weekend ride to the Malibu area. Tried to go up every road that was not private, hoping to get a glimpse of the view. The best I can figure out is a neighborhood I am going to call Las Ramblas. Basically go up Rambla Vista off of Las Flores. No other area has such a height being so close to the PCH.

I did not find the perfect spot since I was going in the wrong direction from the shot. Also, much development has occurred since the movie was filmed, so the view might now be obscured. Plus the camera can do lots of tricks with perspectives.

Here is the view from on top. Perhaps one of the streets below?

No that I know of.

However, I have to ask, what alternatives are there to fight a force of indoctrinated children who WILL use the fact that they are children to destroy you and your community?
