I’m not a watch guy (appreciate the passion though!) and this will no doubt offend many, but i do have a rather obsessive collection of Hermès Apple Watch straps. I enjoy that it’s one of the relatively few ways a man in a tasteful suit can accessorize to match mood or palette.

No judgement, here. You do you. There’s much room for personal tastes and interests when it comes to watches. Many prefer the precision and workmanship of a mechanical watch, though.

absolutely. the apple watch itself is nothing but a tool, seriously useful but lacking in character for sure!

it was on Etsy with bad pics and a mention the crown was replaced. I noticed after I got it the case tube had been broken in the past, which hopefully my watch guy can pull and replace. Besides that, it’s been running 20sec a day since Friday, and just looks and feels right. All in all, I only paid $475, and I don’t care about originality as much as I do a functional everyday watch.

Looks great on a black nato.

I needed a beater Quartz, this Wolbrook Skindiver World Timer came up, inexpensive via Ebay. Neil Armstrong wore one when he flew the X-15. I'll use mine for yard, and garage work...

Great thread! My taste in watches and bikes is very similar. I’m a sucker for early 80s to mid 90s, quartz, mechanical, whatever. Makes sense as that’s the era I grew up in.
Here is what I’m currently wearing. Two tone Tag Professional chrono on a Hirsch rally strap.

Wish I had a Cannondale Black Lightning….would match well.

Nice looking Tag! Where did you source the racing strap?

Sold the Wobrook - a real decent quartz watch, but I didn't realize it didn't have a screw-down crown. (we have a pool, I'm constantly in/out during warm weather, I would have hated to ruin it).

I needed a small faced watch, pool-rated (100 m/screw down crown) and non-diver.
This new Borealis Icarus seemed to fit the bit, it's on it's way from Portugal. I've had two other Borealis watches, they're one of the better microbrands. I was really seeking a quartz, for occasional use. This one is an automatic, but nothing else really fitted my spec needs and aesthetics.

I like nice watches. I just abuse mine so bad I don't wear expensive ones. I wear a watch religiously every day. I can forget my phone but leave my watch and I'll turn around and get it.
The Invictas were gifts. The Armitron is my daily beater/work watch the Kenneth Cole was my late father-in-law's.

Hampden Special Railway, 21 J, recently inherited from my Dad. My great grandfather showed up from Dresden, Germany, and apparently kept books for the railroad in the St. Louis area. This was the watch he carried, well-worn Philadelphia nickel case. I have a small collection I inherited together. I carry it once in a while - hefty.

So, took my zodiacs to a local watchmaker and found out the dangers of buying cheap vintage watches… both had amplitudes around 160 and a bit of wear in the movements and he recommended not even servicing and just wearing and enjoying till they give out. Because of a broken case tube and movement corrosion the sea wolf would be more than replacement cost to get back to perfect health. So… I decided to just get a new watch. Grey market because I’m cheap and like to live dangerously. A modern Swiss automatic chronograph (modular…), and in colors that match my de Rosa.

Citizen sells a "Ray Mears Protough" line in the UK. Smaller size, 300m, sapphire crystal, Eco-Drive power. We don't see many here in the US. I picked up a great example on the WatchUSeek forum. It came with a riveted canvas strap, but this will be used for garage/yard/beater work, so I put it on a rubber strap.

I prefer a good mechanical watch but as I am in a different time zone every week and need accuracy, I have two of these Casio Atomics. They are dead nuts to the second. I can also beat the hell out of them.

As to heirlooms, I have these two. Both were bought new by my Great Grandfather. Left is a Waltham from 1885. Still keeps decent time. The 1912 American on the right doesn't work. The 'chain' on the American is made from my Great Grandmothers' hair.

The mechanical that goes back on my wrist at the end of June, when I hang up my travel tool bag. Russian Vostok Kommander. Nothing fancy, just your basic watch.

The other commie watch in the collection I found at a flea market in Sydney, almost 20 years ago.

Instead of a second hand, Mao's hand waves. Just a bit of whimsy for those who like that sort of thing.

I've always been fascinated by watches and got my first when I was in the second grade. I was just amazed that a machine could be made that small. I never have more than one watch at a time and this is my most recent. It will also likely be the last one I ever have.

Haven't worn a wristwatch in maybe ten or more years. But for some reason, I got really nostalgic about my old Hamilton Field Khaki. Made a simple tool with a block of wood and two nails to unscrew the backing plate. Found a new battery on eBay for $1.20. And bam! I know what time it is!

Had this since 1996. 10 year anniversary present from my wife. Paid for with my money.

Always been fascinated by watches too. My oldest brother got a Datejust back in the early 70's and I have loved the Rolex brand ever since. This has been everywhere wet and dry. Son gets it someday.

I picked up this 1972 Seiko Diver watch (6105-8119) today for $30 and it will need to be serviced.
For 50 years old not too bad of condition and has the original wrist band too!
