Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

What did you just buy for your gravel bike?

Just about everything for the new bike. Still waiting for temps to be above 30*F and not snowing to go for the maiden ride.

Giro Bravo gel gloves
Shimano PD-ME700 pedals
Water bottle cage x2
Topeak Aero Wedge seat bag
Garmin cadence/speed sensors
Topeak Hexus II multitool
700Cx37 tube
Park Tools patch kit

I left all the equivalent old gear on the cyclocross since I'm passing it down to my spawn.
Well, except my Garmin Edge 130. Once the 540 comes out I'll pass that back to the old bike as well.

Picked up a Specialized Terra SL wheelset and two Apidura Racing bags. and am looking to replace my ENVE carbon gravel bar with something also carbon, that has a larger flatter surface area on top but also 46cm wide and flared only 12-16 degrees....probably futile.

Why not look at the Roval Terra drop bars?

The tops are not much diff from my ENVEs...that ovalized shape which is okay and far batter than round, but I prefer flat like the ZIPP SL70 Ergos, for example.

Deda Superzero gravel bar

The Deda Superzero is carbon fiber, has 16º flare, comes in 46cm, and appears to be flatter/wider in the tops than the Enve Gravel.

That is a brilliant find! This bar will be perfect...thanks! I'll see where I can find it. Heck, I think I want it on my road bike too.

Glad I could help! I made an inquiry with Deda, who put me in touch with their USA distributor, who then put me in touch with Velo Mine shop and a guy named Ben Cole. Try him.

so... as much as I really like my week old Poseidon X (lg), there were some needed changes from the outset, and after about 8 ride hours, definite things to adjust to my liking/preferences.
Here the new Stuff...

New Stuff for the Poseidon X

Charge Saddle : the stock saddle (looks ok) is 130 width; a non-starter for me. I need at least 140-143 width. Put on an older Alias, which is nice and good for me; but I do like the Color Combo of the Forest/British Racing Green augmented by Leather Brown accents. Even though I have a bunch of nice saddles, I didn;t have Brown... The Charge looks like "Da Kine" for me... has the saddle shape with works quite well for me - we shall see...
Deda Bar Tape - Leather look, perforated - seems like it'll be nice enough
Zipp Speed Weaponry Service Course 70 XPLR, 44 cm, bar top, flat ovalized, 5 deg flare and flare starts BELOW the levers/shifter position - stock bar was 46 which is way too wide for me... wide for me is 44, had way too much flare (20-24 deg) which also tilted the hoods/levers/shifter. I gave the stock bar a try, but after 8 hrs, I'm certain it needed replacing, for me. The new bar doesn;t flare until the bend below the lever/shifters
Conti Speed Ride tires 700c x 42 (38 measured on the stock rim) for the front. To gain a little more compliance by lower psi. Already ridden and quite nice for the predominant conditions in my area of Ca.
The key ! Redshift Shockstop Stem 110 cm (longest currently in stock) to add some needed shock absorption for the majority of riding here. A lot of high frequency, short, block edge bumps and rocks.
This stuff should make a big difference in the riding comfort and control for the stuff on this bike.
Tomorrow will be fun, getting it all on the bike!
Ride On

42mm S-Works Pathfinders, really looking forward to trying them out. Pathfinder Pros have been great, the S-Works are 200g lighter (for the pair) and should be faster (Pros are no slouch).

New Niner RDO a couple weeks ago and installed a Power2Max power meter on Saturday. Of course, that caused 4” of snow and a 30-40 deg temperature drop on Sunday. Two more posts until I can post pics.

I bought some Kinlin TL-23 rims to lace up to some old hubs. I'm fairly new to building wheels, so I didn't want to get too fancy. These seem pretty decent and I think I'm going to like the 23 inner width. It was also fitting to get some new rubber, G-One Allrounds and give the bike a good cleaning. This wheel/tire combo was easy to mount (for tubeless) and sealed up just fine. Hopefully I'll get some riding in soon, but the weather and my schedule have been a little wonky.

That's a sexy looking Space Horse you gots there.

Have you posted pics of it anywhere on this forum? I would love to see some.

How does it ride?

ColonelSanders Thank you! I built this up in 2018, and I can't see myself ever parting with it, although the new ones now have thru-axles and flat-mount brakes. I'm not a fast guy, so the weight is not an issue for me, and it really does provide a smooth ride. Tires still probably play a bigger role, but I do like steel. It's the bike I probably grab 9 out 10 times unless I'm doing a lot of pavement or riding the fatty!. I have a few pics of it throughout this forum, but I could only find one.

a new screw

Got a new B screw from Wolf Tooth.

The big buy. Oh, I also purchased a 40 tooth cassette and new 11 sd chain to convert my 2x GRX to some gearing my old knees can handle on the grades.

Have two rides on them, about 100 miles. Some gravel, lil mud, they did great, handle offroad just like the Pros do, no surprises there. Considerably more volume, my 38mm Pros measured 40mm on these wheels (23.5mm ID), the 42mm S-Works measure 45mm. But they feel just as fast, maybe even a lil faster than the smaller Pros, which is impressive given the increase in size. They are also 140g lighter than the smaller Pros. These will be really good for some of the chunkier stuff that I've ridden where the Pros were just a bit sketchy. Just have to see how they hold up to the rougher stuff, don't have any of that around here, so it'll have to wait till I get back down to SC for a visit.

WTB Resolutes in 650b. I've had the GK SKs for a couple months and overall fairly pleased but they're terrible at clearing mud - in that they don't clear mud at all. Plus, they kick up so much debris and aren't what I consider to be supple. With the mixed terrain I ride I am not going to be avoiding muddy areas and I need something that clears it decently and also prefer a little more supple ride. Wish they came in larger than 42.
