Remco is very intelligent and is able to adapt faster dan anyone else (his "weaknesses", like descending or explosive sprints on steep gradients, were gone after one winter of focused training). He has already faced the pitfall you suggest (in the Giro d'Italia last year), and learned from it. So has his team. We're Belgians, we compensate our underdeveloped sense of humor by drinking beer.

My route home from work follows a canal through some farm fields. There's usually water in the canal, which is also occupied by some Western Box Turtles. I don't see them every day, but when I do, it cheers me immensely. I don't know why. No pics because those buggers are deceptively fast!
Edit: I don't think they're Western Box Turtles. I don't know what kind they are. But I really enjoy seeing them.

I picked up a vintage mountain bike (and all chrome 1986 Ross Mount Hood) to ride in next year's Cino. Three days later my buddy Dana picked up almost the exact same bike. He calls it the "Spite Bike" because he paid less than I did.

I’m Cheerful that I’ve had ZERO flats in 2022. Yes I know it’s not December yet and I should keep my mouth shut, but I haven’t had a flat-free year since the Clinton administration. Heck one year I had over 15…thank you Compass extra lights.
