Yep - you tap the right side for high gear, left side for low gear. Physically, it's a natural motion but psychologically it takes some time to get used to. The best usage of these bottom brackets is in combo with an IGH. Combined with an Alfine or a Rohlof hub, you have a bombproof 22 or even 28 speed drivetrain.
