Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The way companies are owned by other companies, HQed in one place and manufacture their bikes in another makes things complicated, but off the top of my head, Electra, GT, Kestrel, and GT are all in CA. I assume Santa Cruz is based in Santa Cruz....

There are also a lot of framebuilders- Rock Lobster and Steve Rex come to mind. Edit: and Rivendell

Think Giant is based in Orange county. So what's the big deal. They employ mostly Taiwanese, I think.. The bike is US made in name only..

Giant is a Taiwanese company. They may have sales offices in the USA, but all the real management, as well as all the manufacturing, is in Asia.

The biggest bicycle company in California is probably Specialized, which has its HQ in Morgan Hill, just south of San Jose.

There are also a bunch of smaller companies founded by the Marin Klunkerz guys: Ritchey, Breezer, Fisher, WTB, etc.

There are many. Do you just want complete bikes or parts as well?
