Favourite podcasts?

Hey all,

I have started to develop a love for listening to podcasts on my morning commute to work.

Wondering what everybody's favourite podcast is!

Any subject - I like a bit of everything!

Depending on your interests:

99% Invisible - If you are interested in the built world (architecture/design). Quite a wide range of stories.
Time Sensitive - These are interviews with different people in the "art/business/beyond" as they describe it.

It has exactly what you're looking for, variety.

Can't believe these haven't been mentioned yet:
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
Radiolab

Good to see Lexicon Valley up there, John McWhorter is refreshingly apolitical in LV; if you want to hear his political views, check out his frequent appearances on the Glenn Loury show.

WTF by Marc Maron. Spicy language, but great interviews of comedians, musicians, actors, etc.

Hardcore History by Dan Carlin. Some for pay, some for free. Very long episodes, but VERY excellent. If you have any taste for history, it's worth the commitment. I listened to the WWI series Blueprint for Armageddon. Even though it was free, I was inspired to paypal him $6 (a nominal $1 per ~4hr episode). I hope his subscriptions or patreon or whatever are supporting him well, because he is doing the world a service.

I enjoyed 2 Dope Queens, I think they're done making new ones but you could go through the back catalog

I've been listening to Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone lately, that's a lot of fun.

Beef and Dairy Network if you like your comedy bizarre, dry, and british

Cyclist Pod with Stephen Grant and Rhea Hubble if you want a fun podcast about non-pro cycling (although one co-host is a professional triathlon coach, so there is lots about competition)

Dan Carlin-Hardcore History.

If you like thorough, well-researched historical deep dives that are anything but boring, this is up your alley.

I listen to 9 or 10 with some regularity

many come from the Adam Carolla podcast network

My favorite is "Ace On The House" - a carpentry show with Eric Stromer

then I enjoy the "Adam and Dr Drew Show" --

the main "adam Carolla Show" is entertaining but long and doesn't hold my attention as well

Fitness Confidential -- with health/fitness pro Vinnie Tortorich

Savage NAtion - Michael Savage podcast

TheHerd - with Colin Cowherd

and DMXS Radio and PulpMX - 2 motocross specific podcasts

Craig Groeschels leadership podcast is also awesome

Here's another enthusiastic vote for Hardcore History by Dan Carlin. His podcasts have made all others seem dull to me by comparison.

www.dancarlin.com

I also enjoyed Cocaine & Rhinestones. It is a podcast about classic country music personalities by someone "in the know" in Nashville.

https://cocaineandrhinestones.com/

One I've been meaning to dive into is The History Of Rome by Mike Duncan. I use a standalone mp3 player instead of a phone to listen to podcasts, so I like sites like this that will let me download the files to PC and then drag and drop them to my mp3 player. I'm sure this one is available at the usual phone-friendly podcast sites too.

Scroll down to July 2007 to get started. https://thehistoryofrome.typepad.com.../archives.html
