So busy was I celebrating putting two riders on the podium in the Ronde that I almost forgot about the Itzulia, but I'm in by the skin of my teeth!

No Uran, but three other Columbians so I went with slcbob thoughts of a double lancastrian GC approach, then nabbed Higuita as well. Stuck in Pogacar, almost feels like cheating.

David Gaudu, Jesus Herrada make for a breakaway shot?

Lennard Hofstede in for a few assist points when he saves Primoz's butt after Carapaz and Pogacar go on a flyer...

John Lastra and Txomin Juaristi in for the required continental rep. I mean Txomin Juaristi - you can't get more Basque then that, gosh even his birth place has an 'X' in the name according to PCS!

I just surveyed the Itzulia teams. I see Dirk opted for the double Slovenian approach and ooga-booga went anti-Slovenian. Only GrainBrain joined me picking the winner (just watch!) Yates. Only canam73 is giving Izagirre some support for a repeat.

Several folks are hoping for the tales of brave Ulissi. Good things could happen there.

one4smoke off to a commanding McNulty-driven lead. We'll have to count on his Aru investment levelling the field later in the race. I have faith that it will. It's a long way to [where are we headed now?]!

guaranteed to finish lasto. previewing those 8-14 pointers for the gt's with the weeklong stage races. occasionally pays off but supporting the underdog(s) generally doesn't.

I'm keeping track of the time trial yesterday and eyeing McNulty and Bilbao whom I had swapped out. Hugh and Higuita around a minute down. I think Tadej swung that TT personally. He'll do his thing of hanging back ...

... Arrata where Tadej will put a minute five into Roglic and Yates. Yup you heard it here first!

Wet and cold today, seems like a day for some local puncheurs to play. I can't even spell the French word, how do you say that in Catalan? Pxnxjier?

It doesn't strike me as a very Chablis-ful region but new man about town Dirk de Said Varietal is stamping his authority on the race with a strong showing in Stage 2 to take the lead.

ooga-booga seems to have a lock on the brown jersey but he's taking the long view and we can expect him to be very dangerous in July.

The rest of us are rattling along on our way to Arrata (thanks, mate ^), stuck in the middle together.

If Cav wins this we're going to have to give a special award to Rob.

Itzulia #3, GrainBrain for the stage win almost alone in the finishing photo, but Dirk continues his beer and chips fueled ravaging of Basqueville and the GC. I'm slipping to the back of the pack but the laughing-in-lower-case bunch is way back there with a lock on the brown jersey.

Meanwhile, in the relentless one day league, Schelderprijs was a bit of a hot mess in the transition from cobbles to the Ardennes, and a cold mess on the road. Well done MTB rider and canam73 for your stage wins. I had a good Ronde and manage to stay on top for the two series. Serieses? Serii?

DQT looked so strong with that train, but it got messed up for them.

But what was going on with Cav trailing Bennett? Was Cav thinking that Bennett was doing lead out for him?

It looked like Bennett was pulling away from him, too. Yeah, that was weird.

CN mentioned him being in a 'sweeper' position, but I've never heard that term used in a sprint train ... They could've been going for a full podium I suppose if Morkov had managed to keep onto third?

Congrats to canam73 for the VG stage win, somehow edging out Team McNulty / one4smoke after a magnificent day for our Brandon.

In the GC, it's an interesting tour and a pretty tight race except for the lock on the brown jersey.

Not DS-worthy myself, I'll acknowledge the sweeper concept and admit to having seen it in play in the peloton as they do the hard miles, but in a sprint train? Yeah, nothing I'm familiar with. That sounds like the kiss of death for the Manx Missile.

nice overall win by Dirk de Chablis with a solid team. on a personal note, was actually hoping for the coveted dfl award for the itzulia. got within 36 places of it yday
but maddeningly lost ground on today's barnburner of a stage. fun little tour tho.

not able to change riders for dbp on wednesday just yet...

inching towards the giro...

Stella and Pringles for everyone, c/o Dirk. You know, like how the GC winner shares the purse to his domestiques. Well played, sir. Well played.

Hasta Wednesday.

And what a race today.

Ha ha whoops, had the two slovenians mixed around! Wow what a stage ... Astana drilling it at the front down the descents was kind of amazing. Looking forward to the Giro also, hoping to make good main picks then try and pick the most likely of the low cost guys to get me breakaway/assist/various kom-sprint points.

Yup, GrainBrain , you were soooooooooooooooo close. It's so weird to see a pick around here not completely NAIL it.

Speaking of which, make your picks! Even if they're bad. The character of the Spring Classics change dramatically now for the last four races, starting tomorrow. Lots of folks leaving the rotation and new ones coming in. I just got finished managing my pesky transfer budget in the light blue league and I'm about out of Schlitz. In the red league, pick six is a lot easier but there's still a few hundred races left in that slogathon. It's like the Milan - San Remo of Velogames, and there's still a while until the Veloggio.

Alright got them in super classico and updated the spring classics. Haven't payed much attention which is to bad I could've been competitive in the spring classics. Who is Pedro and I don't think I'm understanding the team name "Lenovo-DMT-Golden Wonder" but they've secured a dream like third placing so far.

In super classico I've gone with Wout, Avermaet, Sep, then tossed in Honorč, Lawson Craddock (well duh!) and a random low cost local. I might fine tune that low cost selection, dunno. Everyone's thinking Wout is the favorite but Sep seems to be in the mix, is this his chance? It feels like Greg is due for a win, I wonder if he'll go all in here while the others wait for Amstel Gold.

Strong showing by GrainBrain with the top 2 and others in the Spring Classics league. My insurmountable lead may become handily surmounted if he keeps doing that and I keep coming in DFL.

I have fond memories of removing Cosenfroy and Schelling from my team in the final adjusments.

We're on to Maastricht.

Strong stage wins by canam73 in both contests. Particularly crushing in Fantasy Spring Classics. I'm still in front but feeling like that kid from Uno X pedalling squares inside the flamme rouge in Turkey.
