Such a great story! I would hire him. I always prefer small family companies and single individuals when it comes to hire a contractor.
In my town we have a great small plumber company which offers great service for a good prices, if someone is interested here you can read more about them.
This way you can be also sure that you are doing something good for people in your area instead of feeding another corporate giant.
