I thought I was pretty nice this year, but evidently not? I got covid again, starting on Wednesday. That leaves me at home away from people and unable to go to the hospital to see our new granddaughter. As typical, I tell my family not to get me anything for Christmas; I'm terrible about buying stuff throughout the year. It's a weakness.
Happy Holidays to you all!!
Happy Holidays to you all!!

I know some of you must have a few things to share, so please post some of the goodies that you received this year...or gifts you presented to others. It dose not matter if CV or not, just like to live vicariously!
This year was great filled not with the material things but full of "Great" memories......PLEASE POST SOME PICTURES.....
It's raining here, but a solid "H", breakfast, even if the rice is pre-cooked! It's hard to beat spam and rice.....

I guess I’ve been a good girl or at least an OK one, Santa brought me something I’ve been looking for for about a year or so. My friends in Delaware sent me this great door mat that’s either going to be a bath mat or go in Morticia’s brier where I put my gear on the way to work.
My sister gifted me this great B movie trivia book, a Saturday morning cartoon puzzle and can of deliciousness. Did you know Girl Scouts sell this “bar munchie” type of stuff? It fabulous.

Mostly no bike stuff this Christmas! Volvo suddenly won't start, so I spent a day trying to diagnose it, then had to ride my Trek out ten miles with a car battery on the minirack to my boss's house where I'd kept my tiny Honda while my broken ankle/leg was healing since mid September (couldn't use the clutch). Got the Honda going, changed its battery in a Sam's Club parking lot in pouring rain, and made it up to family in Vermont just just about an hour before the roads all froze! That was epic.
Enjoyed some nice IPA and Ben & Jerry's today, and going winter backpacking tomorrow. That is nice. The car trouble isn't necessarily punishment for being naughty, it's just that I made a deal with the Volvo that if she got me through my injury I would give her whatever she wanted. She has now come to collect her end of the bargain.

H breakfast? Is that just plain white rice? I love rice but just can’t make like the restaurants especially in a very small portion.

The trick that I have found for my real fried rice is to use a
1. scramble the eggs and set them aside
2. combination of day old half sticky rice and half basmati rice
3.use "light" soy sauce and oil of choice (sesame)...add before half fried
combine everything together to finish cooking......veggies will also need to be precooked!
salt AND pepper with a touch of sugar.
BTW, Love the lamp!
An Ideal Gift fo the ideal ride!
Best to All, Ben

Both, maybe, never stops me from getting what I want. My wife is as fine an enabler you could ever want, in that respect we make a great team.
We hold back about half the stuff we acquire for our chosen "hobbies" and dole it out for holidays as well as adding requested and hinted items along the way as usual.
This sometimes cuts down on excess, random, guessing, hit and miss gifting and results in plenty of getting what we want with some mystery, surprises and fun as well.
All that being said, it can get excessive as neither of us have anywhere near enough restraint.

I still stand in for Santa.
in-line or "cyclocross" brake levers for my son's bike including installation.
bummer the black cloth tape was backordered.
Not excited about the $40+ padded tape being pushed by the local shops either.
obviously , not with the gravy train program

Got a free bike on Christmas after convincing the owner it wasn't worth $25 they were asking for it and another bike. They were happy just to get rid of them. Had to drive 40 miles each way though, but it was nice ride to get away from annoying kids and their shenanigans.

Another painting from my son that has been in the works for quite some time.
Fantastic and well worth the wait, very much akin to the bikes we futz over and the time it takes to get them done. It takes what it takes.
And here's the first one again.

Let's see, my wife got me: some leg warmers; some tights; those cool maps of Italy and France showing where the various bike and component companies are/were located; a new Park cable cutter, and a subscription to Roleur. All were on the list she insisted I prepare.
I may or may not have made "nice," but I at least made it to "acceptable." She is always at the top of the "people/things for which I am grateful" list.
