Crank chainring compatibility

Hello everyone, i own a fc5100-2 Shimano deore crankset. It's a 2x system and I'm planning to upgrade my drive train to 1x.
When I was looking for the BCd spec i noticed something strange.

"96/64 mm pitch circle diameter, 4-arm asymmetrical"

what asymmetrical means? Can I use a normal chainring with the correct bcd or only chainrings from the 5100 compatibility?

Thanks

You will need a 4 bolt Asymmetrical chainring like this one

Also a set of single ring chainring bolts since ones designed for a 2x setup are longer.
