Tubeless slick 700x38c tires

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That’s a fattie for the road… Have you seen the Schwalbe G One Speed SuperGround TLE? It’s a low, textured tread, but available in 35mm and 40mm, and Schwalbe tubeless is the best, IMO.

Panaracer GravelKing Slick comes in 700x38c and is tubeless compatible. Maxxis Re-Fuse is available as 700x40c.

It’s 40mm, but the challenge Strada Bianca is a fast, smooth tire. it’s also not hard to mount on a modern, wide rim as people claim.

BRR shows it as the 3rd fastest gravel tire behind the GP 5000s TR 32 and Snoqualmie Pass EL.

I use Rene Herse extra-light Barlow Pass (38mm x 700c). They are ideal on road and quite competent off-road. If I had to choose one tire/one bike/one wheelset, it would include these tires.

Don't let anyone tell you they are too wide for the road. Narrower tires don't really have an advantage, except a tiny weight difference, or possibly an aero- advantage at speeds I rarely approach.

That Panaracer GravelKing looks a lot like the Barlow Pass (which they also make for Rene Herse).

The construction is quite different. The panaracer uses a less supple casing and a thinner tread to get the low rolling resistance and suppleness. The RH uses a more supple casing with a thicker rubber. They tend to last much longer and are more puncture resistant but more prone to sidewall damage. The endurance casing is similar to the panaracer standard casing.

good to know. I went with panaracer due to their lower price. I’m the future may try the RH. Thanks!

Pretty much the same concept, but the Panaracer costs less.

And is also a completely different tire despite looking similar.

Well yes, the Rene Herse tires are lighter and more supple allowing you in theory to go faster and have a plusher ride, yada, yada, yada. I have ridden both and can't tell the difference other than the Rene Herse are less puncture resistant, wear out faster and make my wallet lighter.

I don’t buy Jan’s nonsense most of the time, but IME an extra light far exceeds anything in the gravel king line. But again, my preference for a wide slick is a Strada Bianca HTLR- very fast and decent protection

I did in fact check out the Challenge Strada Bianca, but they didn't have it in the size I wanted for my gravel bike which is 650b x 42.
