@ascherer, so you have a pair of shoes dedicated to just one bike of yours? How do you find them? I rode slotted cleats back in the early 1980s. I rode them daily but still found them scary. I left one strap loose so I could get out quickly.

I started using cleats at 15 or 16 years old and switched to Time clipless when they introduced their 'floating' model - late 80s, early 90s? I was very comfortable with slotted cleats. Eventually I used deep cleats and BInda straps pulled tight. Despite that degree of attachment I could wrench my foot out if I had to. I wasn't riding in urban settings at that time, it was mostly out on Long Island with a "B" club. Using them now I can say muscle memory is a thing - despite using clipless far longer than not, the mechanics of flipping the pedal, getting connected, tightening and loosening the straps, and disengaging remains accessible for me. Same for downtube shifting, I've had brifters since 2007, but my neural pathways seem to be well-established.

Seller's last pic before disassembly, my first tap on the non-European land (although I obtained it for the European gruppo and wheels, which are like never used just neglected together with the bike).
Paint looks nice but unfortunately toast, has the blistering plague all over, oddly I scratched one, and the filler seems intact, so I guess its from sweat or seawater.
Most likely it will make closer relationship with the dremel and see if bare metal polish if possible, if not, for the price I'll consider the frame as packing material, although its a pity, not even the decals are scratched.

Three Shimano top tube cable clips.
In a plastic covid testing bag (not the nicest packaging), inside a toilet roll, then a plastic shopping bag, in a beer box and finally a double skinned cisco router box…..at first I missed the clips, I thought it was a chainring on its way to me, I was spouting all sorts of expletives, then I found the three clips….seriously I thought I had packing OCD……!
Perhaps a sister thread, HOW did it arrive in the post today!

My warmest gloves have been in need for replacement for some years and my warmest socks are very thin at the big toe.
therefore time for an investment in my well-being in winter cycling.

@ascherer, that's funny. I definitely have my Imelda Marcos moments, too. Being an obsessive counter, I noticed I have more shoes than my spouse does. (It may no longer be true.) Today I glanced in my closet and noticed I don't even know how many SPD shoes I have. Unfortunately, I have bought a lot because most of them give me pain. But now that I have orthotics, I'm trying them all again. One of my worst pairs now feels quite good.
