I haven't owned more than 1 pair of any of the other brands mentioned but have extensive time spent in Darn Toughs and couldn't be happier w/ them. Warm, durable, and most importantly for me they stay in place and don't slip down my leg after a few hours.

I can vouch for the lifetime warranty as well, dog actually got ahold of one and ripped it and i warrantied it back to them no problem.

I have bought 4 pairs of various Merino wool socks worn typically around 45 degrees with just cycling shoes with toe covers and the Possum socks are the definite winners. On a scale of 0 to 100, I would give them a 90, where the other Merinos would get about 65-70. Thanks for the recommendation

While it does not get super cold, it can get cold and I have some merino wool socks I picked up from REI that keep my feet nice and warm.

I wear Woolie Boolie socks around the house, too. Both warm and comfy.

Which ones, or do you have several different types?

I find it ironic the company chose the name DeFeet which verbally described to anyone else sounds like defeat. DeFeet or Defeat would not be my first choice of a name, but it hasn’t hurt them.

I did the same with newspaper. And a piece for my chest under my outerlayer. Some guys i knew would use a plastic sandwich bag on their toes.

In the toe clip days my brother ordered leather toe cozies from a place in England. They went over the toe clip and pedal. We put Snow Seal on them to weatherproof them. Also ordered some Barum sewups. Cheap good tires for the winter. And then of course we would install some Bluemel mudgaurds in the sloppy winter months. The problem though were flats caused by tiny sharp bits of road salt and tiny shaved bits of metal from plow blades. Along with glass. Everything came in glass containers. Now we have plastic water bottles flattened on the side if the road. You dont see the glistening of broken glass on the road these days.

But I recall many painful miles where my toes were frozen. Could hardly walk when I got off the bike. And hours before my feet would warm up.
