These are all messengers or ex messengers. They are really good professional riders and probably stunt people. Not for us, but they love it.

Pedal For The Path

I worked an event near Cape Cod (Pedal for the Path), a fundraiser for the South Coast Bikeway, who are advocates for a planned bike route from Providence, RI to Provincetown, MA. Things are moving along nicely with towns in the process of building the infrastructure to make "bikeway" possible. Click the YouTube link at the bottom left for a better quality video with the links to highlighted items in the story.

Saturday Gravel

My road bike has been getting the nod mostly this riding season. But not yesterday. I opted for 54 miles of quiet (with the exception of one chasing dog), and beautiful rural farm roads.

Tuesday Night Gravel

With each passing week, we're losing about 14 minutes of sunlight, meaning our Tuesday Night Gravel rides will soon end for the year. They've been a good source of fellowship, fitness, and fun for me. This is some video from last night's ride.

It is a calm, tranquil river, and some of its length is classified as a Wild and Scenic River.

I worked an event recently that will be remembered by the riders for years . It took place during remnants of hurricane Ian with gusts of 50 MPH. This annual fundraiser offered distances of 100, 50 and 35 miles. Because of the high winds, the Army Corps of engineers, closed the 165 ft tall Bourne Bridge to pedestrians and bikes. That necessitated dropping the 35 mile option, which changed to 100 and 50 mile routes to 65 and 40 miles. Four hundred riders signed up but only 168 rode this day. The majority of the drop outs were the more casual bikers who were doing the 35 mile section. Slowly the group of 90 cyclists doing the 40 miles that I was filming, gradually spread out and by the 20 mile mark, most were riding solo or with one or two others. That forced this video to have as much interviews as riding. Sometimes we have to improvise.

Fall colors are popping. I went out Sunday afternoon in search of some of that color and also, in search of some roads I've never ridden—and railroad tracks! 🤷🏽‍♂️

River Bottoms Loop with a Leb Kicker

I took advantage of some unseasonably warm temps yesterday to ride a loop from home to the river bottoms and back with a detour through Lebanon mountain bike park for a total of 41 miles (66 km). This is such a beautiful time of year to be riding the trails.

Chasing Shadows

As I say in the video's description, I don't often make an appearance in my videos, but in this one, I sort of do.

Monday Afternoon Along the River Trails

Here's some video from my ride yesterday along the Minnesota River trails located in the shadow of MSP airport. I found a mix of snow, mud, dirt, and ice. The perfect place for the boy in me to play.

Thanks so much. I'm trying to mix it up a little in the way I go about stitching my videos together. I have some ideas in mind for future videos but nothing that lent itself to this video. Hopefully, one day I'll have a drone. The 'follow me' feature on DJI's Mavic is getting close to what I'll need but it's not quite ready for primetime. I'm content to wait a while longer yet until they get the bugs ironed out. I plan to use drone footage for my gravel rides. I think that would add fun perspective.

haha definitely! I've seen some of that. very entertaining! I took pics of myself cycling with a camera attached to a kite one time. it was tricky, especially since I was laughing so much

the kite's shadow is in the lower right part of the photo

the kite kept crashing because it was a bad windy day, gusty & weird. too bad, cuz it's a nice spot for it

I like the randomness of the kite cam, but it can be frustrating, if I have a particular shot I want to get & of course if the wind doesn't cooperate

Oh, man! That's not something I would've thought of. I remember the Estes Camroc from my childhood that could take a photo at its apex of the earth below. I thought that was the coolest thing ever at the time. I'm not sure why I never owned one, though.

River Bottoms Thursday

I've gotten a little too comfortable with my indoor trainer this winter—I'm using the Rouvy indoor platform and like it a lot. But I woke up yesterday to a fresh coating of snow overnight and decided it was time to head for the river trails. I really needed that! The temp was hovering at around freezing.

Happy New Year, All!

Following my own personal tradition, I made my way to the river trails near the MSP airport for 25 miles (40 km) of snowy trail riding. Winter cycling in Minnesota doesn't get any better than this with a temp just below freezing and light winds. Happy New Year, all!
