New and improved Action Camera
After my trial and learning sessions with the CamPark Act74, I decided that a few more $$$ should fix many of the "not so hot" features of the Akt74. The Akaso Brave 4 seems to do that.
Parcel arrived today and here's the first impression. After taking it around our test loop, the one that features 10%+ grades. Snippets will follow first some of the impressions, both videos shot in 1080/60p
Vibrancy: Act74= meh; Akaso B4=excellent
Gyro: Act74 =No; Akaso B4=Yes
MicroSD capacity: Act74 32; Akaso B4 64
User Manual: Act74 so-so; Akaso B4 slightly better
Price (on day of purchase) Can$ Act74 $60; Akaso B4 $110
The fifty dollar difference is more than worth it; doesn't break the bank, but certainly improved the end result.

PS would I ever buy a GoPro? Much too frugal for that.

I was still searching for the elusive camera position since the stem and the handlebars had some major drawbacks.
The unlikely position ends up being the strut on the fork.
Definite mount on this bike.
Moving the AC also de-cluttered the handlebars and the computer has a better position.

Here are what I look for in an action camera.
Long lasting battery in temperatures from -10C to 55C at a video resolution that can read licence plates.
Spare batteries and a separate battery charger.
Date and timestamp remain as you change batteries.
Here are my questions:
How is the camera operating after a year?
What is the manufacturer's or vendor's warranty like.
I bought a Campark V30 last August. Now I am seeing signs of failure. Specifically, the date and time has to be reset everytime you change the battery. Campark acknowledges this failure but rejected the warranty request because I had purchased it directly from their website instead of through Amazon.
Also, the battery compartment seemed to be way too tight for the battery. The pull tab came off one of the batteries. So now I use a piece of thin fabric and loop it under the battery inside the battery compartment. And now the battery compartment lid is more difficult to keep closed.

On that date reset, I had that right from the start on my ACT74. According to Campark it's a software problem with no updates or rewrites in sight.
Very inconvenient/annoying unless it's hooked up to a power bank.
I plan on using the ACT 74 as my helmet camera; using that only on new rides with interesting scenery and perhaps to shoot a bit of the computer display.

OK, a longer sequence of the ride on the Okanagan Rail Trail along Kalamalka Lake.
At 1080p/60 sent to Cyberlink PowerDirector. Using both EIS and Gyro on the Akaso Brave 4
As is evident those features cope nicely with what comes at them. Using a trike for filming or an e-bike with a throttle and minimal peddling could improve that even more. Average speed was 25kmh (15mph) riding my DeVinci Stellar (3x9) on which I downsized the tires from 2.4 to 27.5x2.0 Continental RaceKing. That works well on gravel path and the road, probably wouldn't be the cat's meow on gnarly trails.
