Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whats the quality of that material? Years ago I had bought a couple of Chinese jerseys, and they were absolutely horrendous.

Got a Lezyne Mega XL computer (the kit version with the speed + cadence and HRM). Have it hooked up to my bike and everything works. Will take it for a spin this coming weekend and will let interested people know how it worked out.

I'm guessing Chinese stuff can be all over the board; after all, it's a huge country with well over a billion people.

FWIW, I've bought a few jerseys/cycling outfits from AliExpress, and have been very happy with them. The outfit (shirt + bib shorts) from "Saibike" in particular was very nice. I also got a jersey from "Telegi" (or was it "Teleyi"? I forget), and I ordered the next larger size and it was too big (so much for that advice about buying a size larger...), so I got another one in my size (medium) and it fits just fine. The Saibike outfit I got in my normal size too, and it fits perfectly.

I'm not so sure about buying, for instance, bike lights on AliExpress, but bike clothes seem to be fine, and definitely far, far cheaper than what they cost for name brands here in the US while probably 80-90% as nice, which is good enough for me.

Trying out a new lube that is suitable for all weather conditions (dry or wet). Muc-Off Hydro Dynamic chain lube:

Clear glasses for night-time and winter cycling. Not the most stylish and certainly won't win any fashion awards, but at night, who cares? Oakley Field Jacket Clear Black glasses:

I'm still waiting on it to ship from China but I'll let you know once I get it. Interesting comment about material quality. I only have one other cheap Chinese jersey and the material is actually pretty decent. It's soft and has a good amount of elasticity. Can't speak too much about the durability, though, since I have a ton of jerseys in rotation and it hasn't seen all that much action.

I went cheap when started biking last year and seems all my jerseys are Chinese made. I have Santic(pants), Spotti, Bpbtti (solid color jerseys), Inbike (gloves), Arsuxeo (jacket for cold - I know I can survive below 32 with it from recent riding on cold).
Can't say it is bad/good when compared with brand name stuff since never used them. I am happy with their quality and they are surviving well 2 seasons and regular washing.

Re: Chinese Jerseys/bibs

I have purchased many jerseys from China off eBay and the quality has been great. Bibs can be hit or miss because the stitching around the chamois can be rough and cause chafing. I have a couple that have been great.

The long sleeve fleece jerseys are also great. Same thing purchased stateside would run over $100. For this for $35 shipped sh

That will look great, until it's washed a few times.

Then it will really be retro! lol

But to address the washing thing. I have other long sleeve fleece jersey's that I have bought and they have not faded yet after several washings.

The Chinese LS fleece jerseys that I purchased haven't faded, but they are getting white pills all over the fabric.

Really? You don't suppose it's residual bleach left over in the washer do you?

it's definitely not bleach. It's the white fleece from the inside of the jersey, pulling through the fabric.

Ah.....gotcha, that's weird. The outer fabric on my jersey's seems very tight and good quality.

I thought it looked great too, but after a couple of washings, it looked pretty bad.

Maybe you'll be okay if you hand wash it.

Hat Giro skullcap- based on one ride, covers ears very well, brim really good. Not sure about warmth/wind blocking. Generally use merino cap which I like. Important to size large as even a little compression
cuts circulation & defeats warmth.
Gloves- inexpensive, XL size for easier on/off.
Chamois cream- almost out of 'Betwixt", this got good reviews including here on BF I think.

@taz777 How does that Muc Off work? I've been looking for a good cleaner for my matte bike and am interested in hearing your thoughts/opinions. Cheers.

New saddle. Who says titanium doesn't break?!

Went with cro mo this time around. Not that I haven't seen cro mo rails break, just that they are less expensive and if both end up breaking, I'd rather thrash a less expensive saddle.

Wanted a Lasko fan that I see in so many pics, but I live in India, and we have 220 volts, so could not buy from the US. Found a similar complaint from a Brit on the Trainerroad forums, and someone suggested this. It's a carpet drier. He bought it and loved it, so I also bought it from Amazon UK, shipped to Athens where I will be going for a vacation in a couple of weeks.
