Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A cool 38*C.
It should be no higher than 36 as we are standing in line tomorrow.

So my last full day at work was today. I'm going in tomorrow for an hour or so to clean out my desk and a couple little things.

I had a really good exit interview that went for about an hour and a half. When I came out it was after shift change and I spent a bit of time tying up some little loose ends. I go to put a folder in my bag and I find a little navy blue bag with this inside...

I had said something about how much I love these stems maybe once or twice, and my best friend (who I happen to work with) got this for me as a going away present. Honestly I'm so touched at the thoughtfulness, and it's making this move so much more emotional.

People can be so lovely, it sucks that it can become the most apparent when your relationship with them is going to change a lot...

Excuse me while I go

The Irish whiskey was really good.

The tacos were excellent.

... but that could be the whiskey talking.

Whiskey lies about lots of things...but not tacos.

Yes. Strange, I know, but we will celebrate our 50th anniversary this summer. She’s my best riding buddy but I wish she wouldn’t drop me all the time.

Very cool. You'd probably be upset if she stopped dropping you. Maybe she could let you have one once in a while.

It’s simple math. She weighs 125# and I weigh 200. I can still drop her in a headwind because my power #s are higher or a downhill because I’m fat.

A friend from the old job called me today. He said they would like to hire me back, part time or full time, and for more money. The manager asked if he thought I would do it and my friend said probably not because of the way they treated me when I was there.
Apparently another guy quit recently and the 2 whiz kids who were supposed to absorb my workload can't do it, let alone the workload of the recently departed guy.

I actually thought about it (working again) but then I stopped thinking. Be nice to have a little money again but I don't think I could handle it.

Yes. Same here. Hard to pack a lot of all-day energy in a small package.

Don't see that enough these days. Congrats in advance!

if you tighten her crank bolt a bit, it will be harder for her to drop you.
