Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got home on Friday to find that the back lawn looked like it had been cut by professionals. Even weedwacked the weeds! I was impressed.

Turns out it WAS professionally cut. Mrs. GeneJockey asked the gardener to do the back instead of the front this week, which robbed The Younger Boy of one of his chores. I'm sure he was heartbroken.

Friday. Drive up. Do ride around Tourch Lake. 50 miles ish. Dinner camp out.
Saturday. ride 200 K . Eat a big dinner. Then either camp again or drive home. Sunday is Father's day.

Dad's done himself a bit of a mischief. He was putting up some shelves in the basement. He just won't stop... anyway the next morning his right "knee" was hurting. From hip to ankle.... his description. So he took it easy all day rubbed some linament ointment on it. Next morning the pain migrated to the left "knee" and worse pain and no strength.
a couple M.r.i's later. Complete collapse of a disk in his spine resulting in pinched nerves. Looks like he's going to get stabilization surgery, couple rods and a few screws..
Any ride with 10K feet is tough, especially for us larger guys. Going back for the fourth time means you must enjoy it. Hope you have a great ride!

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I cut one of my stone-filled yards today. Difficult to walk without carrying anything. I'll do the other, less rocky one tomorrow.

Not going to lie, today’s ride was harder than I would have like it to be. Everything was going well until about mile 90 and then a massive headwind started, didn’t let up the rest of the ride.

Speaking of the aged, did you hear back from your witch doctor? Tell him/her you need to get back on the bicycle pronto if you're going to tackle the Tour de Brown Squirrel this summer.

Weeding and lawn mowing activities aren't going to cut it if you're going to tackle the slopes of Buddhist Temple Hill.

Actually, in between posting quality content here I penned the email below to said witch doctor’s office.

My tele-visit with redacted on 5/20 ended with her telling me she would check with Dr. redacted about what to do as the next step in my treatment. She said a 3rd injection was not to be pursued and surgery was not indicated. She thought that physical therapy would be the next step and would get back to me. I am still waiting to hear what has been decided. I am eager to continue the path to recovery. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks.

There's a lot going on here, but it sounds like you should be doing more stretching activities.

perhaps some more laser machine with bells and whistles. That's the ticket.

I actually thought that "I am eager to continue the path to recovery" was pretty good. I think they'll get a chuckle out of that as they stick a pin in their DougRNS voodoo doll.
