Biking inseam?
I've seen this mentioned a few times. What does it mean relative to an inseam sizing when buying pants?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It doesn’t unless you measure yourself for pants by jamming a book as far up in your crotch as you can get it and using it as a square against the wall to measure the distance from the floor to the top of your crotch. I usually just try the pants on.
I expect for comfort you'd want your pants crotch an inch or two lower and you'd measure down to the top of your foot rather than the bottom.

Thanks for the input.
So someone with a 30" pants inseam, would probably have a 32"ish bike inseam as you have to go to the bottom of your foot?

If you don't measure you won't know.
We'd have no idea whether you like high waters or pants that touch the ground and get their hem dirty.
I take one of those steel tape measures that framers use and stick it snug in my crotch. Then extend the tape till it touches the ground. Then add in the measurement for the body of the tape measure that is usually printed on them. Generally 3.25" unless you use metric.

Knowing your pant size is useless, but guessing is even worse. In bare feet, do the book-in-the-crotch method that every Google search result tells you to. Just remember that while inseam is an important measurement to take, standover height isn't the be-all/end-all to bike fit; in fact, it ranks well below other considerations, especially on compact frames.

CBH - Crotch bone height. Not related to pant inseam from one pair of pants to another (too many variables) and between people.
One of my bikes is a 61cm and leaves about 1/2" clearance while straddling the bike in my cleated bike shoes. Fits great when riding taking crank length and seat height into account.
