Impossible. The only terrain on which a 26" mountain bike can be ridden, is a 26" mountain.

Anxious to see it; I'm into 26ers, but they're all flat bars. There is a thread in the C+V section about drop bar conversions.

Looks like I'll be doing this now. I have an '08 Cannondale F4 that's been collecting dust and I've been wanting to do something with it. I had been considering a drop bar conversion but didn't want to spend money on new levers and shifters. I learned about the new Surly Corner Bar when I was watching this Blue Lug video. I'm going to run this bar (with a shim since it's 25.4) and 26x2.1 Gravelkings. No gravel roads where I live, it will be 90% road and some dirt trail detours.
They made this bar specifically for people who want to do drop bar conversions but want to keep their shifters and levers.

Yesterday I swapped on a set of old Serfas Drifter 26x1.5's I had (were on the bike when I bought it, I never rode them), flipped the stem down, installed some short bar ends and took it on a 20 mile road ride. You know, I think I actually like that set up. I can get down into a pretty good aero position with my hands on the bar ends, it felt really nice. My big ring is a 44 and I have high enough gearing, I don't have any steep mountain roads to blast down. It was a fun ride.
My effective top tube looks to be 59cm and if I got the Corner bar or a drop bar conversion I'd need a short stem. The shortest Headshox stem I could find on the internet was only 110mm so that's a problem.
I think I'm going to just keep the flat bars and mod it with the Graveklings, a nice set of cranks and Bicycle Wheel Warehouse has some light 26 inch wheels for low prices.
