Bikes and Bakeries

Continuing the theme of Bikes and B…, let’s see your bike at a bakery, boulangerie, or similar source of sweets.
@Andy_K is visiting for our hopefully annual again bikes and Mariners-Orioles baseball (ooh, another thread idea!) get-together. Today’s ride included the famous-to-PNW cyclists Black Diamond Bakery. There’s a story around here that cyclists saved this bakery (then tiny but with awesome cinnamon rolls, now a full restaurant as well as all the baked goodies) from extinction decades ago. Maybe someone can confirm the rumor?

Look, there are RULES to this thing.

You simply cannot post about their cinnamon rolls, post a display case and then NOT show us the cinnamon rolls.

The best cinnamon rolls I've ever had, no other is close, were served at The Ballard Inn. It is in Los Olivos, CA, just north of Solvang (if you know where that is).

never been there , but I know where it is. There is place north of there, that is in Moro Bay , that makes some pretty awesome sticky buns. It is sort of across the street and north a bit from the surf shop.

a cinnamon roll and a loaf of cinnamon bread from Trefzger's Bakery in Peoria. The bakery is located in a former bike factory and located adjacent to the MUP, so it's hard to not have an excuse to drop in for a quick snack.

Wildflour Bakery, Saluda NC.
A sheet pan of sticky buns was 3.50
That's all they made that day, and sold out early.
Some of the staff were barefoot, which gave me pause.
People bought entire sheet pans and went outside and shared with strangers.

Outside, a truck sold real Sno-Cones.
A man with a stuffed racoon on his Jeep roll bar was chatting with the local cop.
The man had a tall-boy Bud on his lap. At 9 am.
Coon Dog Days, 4th of July, 1991.

Nothing I've had since comes close.

A restaurant/bakery that has some of the best preserves and pies I've ever had . A slice of their pie is a meal! (maybe for two)

that does sound like a reference to Ken Wallace and the former (I'm pretty sure) Bisbee Bicycle Brothel.
He gave a talk at the 2018 Classic Rendezvous gathering....

Nice to see the Medici out! Fitted much the same as mine with the exception of the Mavic wheels and hubs on mine. I love the way the bike shifts with second gen SR derailleurs. I am now building another one similar color to yours but later model with internal cable through the top tube and my size 63cm instead of 60cm. I plan to use the same drive as my '82.

This is Agostini Bakery. One thing people don't usually know about the Wyoming Valley area of PA is that we are totally spoiled with some of the best food in the country. This place has been a major supplier to the local restaurant industry for generations. If you have ever had a sub sandwich from one of the hundreds of local joints here, it was probably made on an Agostini roll. They were simply the very best. In business for 115 years, they recently closed up shop due to the current economic situation. Sad to see it happen, but I hold out hope that somebody takes it over and continues the legacy.
