Torelli Countach OS Max Tire Recommendations
I just picked up a Torelli Countach OS. It was on consignment at a bike shop I just wandered into while grandkids were at a bounce house. It has Voloce DRs, Centaur crank, and Daytona shifter; obviously rim brakes. They all work. It currently has orange 23 mm Vredestein tires, "handmade Fortezza TriComp". 700x23C.
Without gainsaying the overwhelming impact of an orange tire with a tan sidewall, the tires and tubes are overdue to be replaced. I am about 187 lbs and would like to use 25C tires if possible. Will 25C tires fit on this bike? And, what are some recommendations for high quality tires and tubes for this lovely vintage bike?
Thanks for any input. I ride CF road bikes with tubeless tires and no little about vintage bikes.

Pump up those orange tires and look to see how close they are to the chainstays, fork blades, crown, rear brake bridge, chainstay bridge, seat tube and the brakes themselves. Can you comfortably spare a mm less on the sides, 2 mm less to the tire center? Now measure the tire width with calipers. Add the numbers you are comfortable with (width X 2) to your measured width. This is your new max width. (Yes, tires are measured on different widths rims and manufacturers vary in QC and width control so it isn't guaranteed that a tire of XX width actually is that width on your rim.)

79pmooney, excellent. Should have sorted that myself in the first place. I have several calipers; they are several thousand miles away, but I can still manage this exercise.
Thanks for the prompt, concise, and much appreciated input.

25mm tires were pretty standard for road bikes BITD. They should be fine.
As for recommendations, I really like Continental tires, but now I'm running Veloflex tires, because they come with tan sidewalls and look better on my bike.

smd4, I think you are probably correct. I will measure as noted above, but I think 25mm will work. I will look at both the Continentals and Veloflex. This is a bright orange bike with black tape, black seat, and black pump. I am not sure about tan sidewalls once I ditch the orange tires but I will check it out, Thanks.

Will do. It might take me a bit to figure out how to post pictures but I will get it down in the next day or so.

Thanks. Those aren’t pictures I took for purposes of posting, but are what I had when the request came.
I am not a bright color guy. My bikes trend towards white, grey, or black. But it is bright for sure.

Yep. 25 mm tires fit. The orange tires were both flat this morning. I pumped up the front tire and it blew the tube and ruined the tire sidewall. They were old and needed replaced. The only place handy wasn’t oriented towards road bikes. They had Specialized Rounaix so that is what I got for now. Replaced both tires and tubes and bought new tubes to carry. The tube that was in the saddle bag is probably as old as the tubes on the bike when I bought it.
