One of the first times my dad came to visit we went for a MTB ride. He didn't bring his Fuse which uses 27.5x2.8 tires so he rode a rental Intense Sniper with 29x2.2 tires. Even on a full suspension vs his hardtail he commented that he just didn't feel like he had any traction.
I do some solo rides now where it's a mix of dirt and pavement. The bikes works for that but so would a lightweight gravel bike or hardtail. Maybe I can figure out the solution after I pay for my latest dental expenses. The whole not having a job thing makes a tightwad like me more nervous.

She became a fearless descender and eventually could drop most everyone on the roughest descents. She also won a state cyclo-cross championship for cat 3.
But, yeah, most roadies freak out and go back to road only.

A lot of people try off-road after being roadies for years. For some, all it takes is once and they swear "Never again". Some love it and become quite proficient. A woman I rode with quite a bit raced cat 3 road and she got a mountain bike and we took her on some pretty crazy trails and she did fine. She told us it was her first time on singletrack!

Lots of people out running early this morning now that is has stopped raining after 6 days. Thing is, the sun don't rise as early as it did last month. People don't realize how invisible they can be at that hour of the morning.

I think you just described last December. I was looking forward to getting in a bunch of road miles while the company closed for the annual Christmas Break, but it rained pretty much daily for the whole week. I finally got an outdoor ride in in New Years Day.

I have had the opportunity to ride a couple of my friend’s Staches. One a rigid single speed and one a 120mm multi speed. The amount of traction and stability on the SS is amazing. A little less apparent on the hardtail but definitely still there.

Bike magazine had a video of a guy riding over rocks on a Stache with 3.0 tires. It was incredible how calm it was.

When running, assume you are invisible. Just like cycling.

The 2017 Fit, purchased in 2018, has lost its second battery. 70,000 km. I just came from Fit Forums, and it is a common problem. Seems the battery is just too small, and the 'smart charging' is dumb. Folks are disconnecting it and getting better life. Beware @datlas. How about you, Humbug? Battery issues?

edit: Google says smart charge relates to EVs, our Fit runs on 87 Octane gasoline.

Did I mention what happened after the Philly Naked Bike Ride this year? (I think it was in late August or early September.)
There was an after-ride party at a bar or club or something. A couple female members of the staff walked off their ***** because some of the guys were walking around the place naked sporting erections.
