Thanks! That's great to hear! I would be less than honest if I didn't admit that part of what I'm doing with my videos is to try and create a sense of fascination with what we do on two wheels with hopes that others may want some of that for themselves.

Spring floods are still receding but for the most part, the river trails are in fine shape. It felt so nice to be riding them again. They're my happy place! Come on along and let me show you.

Thank you. The flooded area is slow to recede due to all of the rain we've been getting. It looks like it's going to be at least another couple of weeks before it's rideable. The guy who crossed it told me that it's even deeper a little further up the trail. I like my feet dry when I'm riding. There will be no crossing for me!

yeah me too. only exception are my summer time beach, bike & hikes, in good sandals. so long as the hubs & BB stay dry. last fall I rode thru a lot of water & when I mounted the studs I had to dry out the inside of the rims, tires & tubes

I've been in situations where I'm faced with that decision, on the bike, on foot or in my jeep. & one has to figure out if this little crossing is the end of it, or if it's an indication or more to come. it's usually the latter

I'd post my riding videos but I'm sure everyone would think they're incredibly boring.

More Wind but Beautiful Gravel as Well!

I ventured out last Saturday to do this ride but turned back after almost being blown off my bike a couple of times in gusts of nearly 40 mph (64 kph). Yesterday's wind wasn't quite as strong but it was punishing nonetheless. Still, it was nice to be out riding on some beautiful gravel roads while taking in a scenic backdrop of rolling hills, farm fields ready for planting, and prairie grass along the way. Come on along and let me show you!

I can find extended stretches of gravel a little over 6 miles from home. I think most of it will safely remain gravel for decades to come.

A Fine Tuesday Night Gravel Turnout!

We have a Tuesday Night Gravel ride, affectionately known as TNG, out of Northfield, MN that has been growing in popularity. Last night's turnout was in excess of 30 riders (plus 2 deer that momentarily joined us). A very fun time indeed!

a tandem gravel bike!
that super dumper gave you all lots of room. safety in numbers, eh?
looks like despite the flats you've got some ups & downs
saw the deer at 5:52! spectacular! musta freaked you out?

I guess #2 saw you & stopped dead in his tracks causing the faceplant, poor thing. glad it got up & ran away. seemed OK

The 2nd deer got caught up in an electrified fence or it may well have run me over! It ran back in the direction from which it came. It was just a little "shocked". So were we! 🤷🏽‍♂️😁

I was a regular on Critical Mass rides in Providence R.I. CM is no longer necessary and has morphed into Providence bike jam. Turnout has been growing annually for this 3rd Friday of every month social ride. For example

More TNG Fun!

Our Tuesday Night Gravel ride has become a thing! We've had 30+ riders turnout the past two weeks. That's quite a lot. We stopped at Chapel Brewing in Dundas to top off our reserves before finishing the final few miles to Northfield. Lots of fun!

Great videos. I wish I could justify dropping the coin on a GoPro but I'm not nearly as enamored with the scenery on my local ride. I'm located in the rust belt and part of my ride takes me past a sewage treatment plant, a water treatment plant downstream and a steel mill. I actually come back feeling LESS healthy.

Thank you. My wish is that I had better gravel routes out my front door. The nearest decent gravel is about 6 miles (10 km) away. I'm fortunate to have some fun MTB parks nearby.

The Inaugural Heywood 110

I spent yesterday participating in the inaugural Heywood 110 gravel ride out of Northfield, Mn. The ride is held on some of the most scenic gravel roads in the region with a good amount of climbing. A brisk wind made for some tough finishing miles but only added to the experience. Such fun!
