52telecaster visiting PDX - Banks Vernonia ride with him on July 3!

@52telecaster posted his camping trip from Peoria to Portland. The PNW gang wants to roll out the red carpet and organize a ride while he and his wife are in town. After some offline discussion, he settled on camping at Stub Stewart State Park, which just happens to be on the fantastic Banks Vernonia trail - 42 miles of mostly flat, no car traffic ride. They're bringing their commuter bikes, Russell's is a Super Course 3 speed, the perfect selection for this ride.

No details yet outside of we're doing the Banks to Vernonia trail and back, with lunch in Vernonia at the ever popular Black Iron Grill with outdoor seating, burgers, beer, and a taco truck.

Who's in?

Looking forward to this trip big time. This community has been an incredible resource. I wish I could play a gig for u guys. It's what I do best. Also Sarah is not actually my wife but she might as well be, we made out our wills the other day so that's pretty committed I guess. She is also hoping to be pointed toward cool restaurants.

.
As close as I'm going to get to playing a gig for u guys.

Pencil me in, but don’t etch it in stone. I have a precocious 11 y/o that I might be wrangling that day. Worst case scenario I meet y’all for lunch arriving on 4 wheels.

Me too... Frankly we travel so much together and apart it did seem prudent to get them done. Also I'm quite a bit her senior so I needed to make sure affairs were sorted. Of course I'll be riding to the grocery till I'm 100... I hope.

Thread bump. I'll start calling out the usual PNW suspects soon. This is a great opportunity for some "cross pollination" of BF members from different areas. Nothing like meeting in person and riding together in making new friends.

Ruminating on 1952 Telecasters. I could have been conceived to the music of a brand new one though I doubt if. Parents were more into classical. Now, I may have played through a Fender of that year (with my harmonica). I've filled a large room with a 1959. That was fun!

1952, will you have access to an axe? Dig the blues? If yes to both, give me a key.

Watched the Portland episode of “Somebody Feed Phil” last night. Couple nice shots of him on a bike along this route.

I wish I could make it. We're penciled in to head to my in-laws' in Spokane. They're nice enough, but I'd rather be riding with y'all.
