Schwinn Circuit value

This bike is way to small so I’m asking for resale purposes. Columbus SL frame, Cinelli bar and stem, nice Rolls saddle, full Sante even the hubs. Nice paint and chrome. I do intend on doing a full service on this with new tires, cables and bar

These are very nice bikes according to a friend of mine that bought a new one in the late eighties. He broke it due to a crash and we couldn’t find him a replacement so he ended up with a 1973 Paramount . I have seen decent return on Circuits but this one is real small and like my tall bikes they take a certain rider with unusual size frame . That one is in very nice shape and with the right buyer I would say about $600 at least but I know nothing about your area. I have seen at least one in a 56 or 58 cm frame go upwards of 900 but that was a while ago .

Bikes: A Blue One and 2 Green One's, then there's the Yellow one. And oh, yeah, a Black One. Did I mention the Red One?

We got one in donated at the Des Moines bike collective last month. Same bike, frame size and all. Same saddle also. I thought it was a replacement since it didn't seem to match the feel of the bike. I replaced it with a very lithe saddle that matched.
Very nice bikes, 22lbs and very responsive.
I refurbed it and it sold on the floor in two days at $350.

Seems like they’re often listed over $500 but I’m skeptical that they actually bring it. $350-$400 feels more like it. Subject Circuit Sante group looks very clean which is a huge plus. They are indeed great bikes.

That Sante groupset alone would bring at least $300 on ebay.

The Schwinn Circuit is a very nice bicycle and if one became available in my market in my size I'd be sorely tempted to buy it. This one, as said, is on the smaller side and I'm sure that will affect desirability. But with the quality of the frame and the coveted Sante' group set, I still think it is worth north of $500.00 in a good market.

Value is sales platform and location dependent. In my area, it would take a while to sell for $350. It "should" be worth over $500. The challenge is getting that value.

FWIW, they have sold on ebay from $100 to $600, most in the $350 range. Sadly, part out would get a lot more.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

GREAT BIKE !!

You do not see many of these around !!!!!

I have a "MINT" one in a 25 inch frame. A little too big for me, but I had to buy it (pre-covid ) because of the condition.

Value has to do a lot with geography. As stated above, depending on where you live, depends one how much you could sell it for.

If you want to keep it local, which I do when selling.

It's a PIA to ship, and could run into issues like damage.

It would be a shame to " part it out"

Keep it together and be patient. I think $ 400.00 is a good price to $ 450.00

Could always put on Ebay and have local pick up only if did not want to ship.

The size of the bike might make the sale a bit difficult. $600 is possible through eBay if you’re willing to wait.

e: OP has the bike listed at 51 cm on eBay.

That's very interesting. I've only ever sold a few dozen bikes locally, I try not to involve myself with eBay and premiums. I've always found it darn difficult to find buyers for smaller bikes. Every buyer who shows up to my doorstep is a 6'0 tall man! Then again, I do sell in college town...

If that's the case OP, than take my statement with a grain of salt!

Those of us who have been here a while know this isn’t @sloar ‘s first rodeo. My hunch is he pretty much knows the value of this bike but is doing a sanity check to make sure the market hasn’t landed somewhere different. Maybe he’ll get a Raleigh Portage offer (my new standard for appraisals based on one-time-at-band-camp assumptions) but likely he’ll settle for something more than what he paid but less than than the high end estimates in this thread. Or maybe he parts it out for max return. I am a buyer of a sloar frameset and a seller of a Circuit part-out so some firsthand experience in this case.

Full disclosure: My Circuit part-out was based on me keeping the frameset to build up with DA 7400. The sale of the Sante group and Wolber rims funded 75% of the total build. Probably not a lot of value in Circuit framesets so selling as a full bike likely best option for sloar. It would be great to get a sold price on this one when the dust settles.

Nationwide craigslist search has a handful of this model/year almost all at $500 give or take a few bucks. I have seen $350-500 as the average price for Circuits listed in the SoCal area in the last three years or so. There have been a few listed in the $150-$350 range but they have been the exception.

I do think this red version with Sante comes up less often than the Matte black with Sprint

.
Using the Raleigh Portage scale, I'd value this bike at TWO Portages.

Circuits are always on my radar so I saw this one listed on CL and FBM for $500. No idea if it went for asking price but it sold fast.

$425 locally, I’m pretty happy with it especially since I didn’t have to deal with EBay.

That works. Realize if you sell on ebay for $600, first there are the fees. Figure $120 in fees (they charge on this shipping). Then you have to pack carefully and ship. Plan on some serious box cutting and folding. Buyers win almost any dispute.

Then next January you will get a 1099 from ebay managed payments. Your job is to document your expenses as it will be just the gross amount.

My basic rule of thumb is if I can get more than half locally, I'll do it. In your case, you got over 2/3, winner all day long.
