I like the platforms. Remind me of the Suntour Beartraps I had on several BMX bikes as a kid.

You are all wrong. It is a Supercycle Medallist Road Bike (hence, the "S" logo) - a Canadian Tire special manufactured by the same peeps who manufactured the GMC Denali. You're welcome.
