Thanks! It's a 400 with a double 1986 I believe. So some changes have occurred since my last comment. The blue 400 I was working on I ended up upgrading to more of a racer and I also have one in black that is taking on more of a commuter build.

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.

Thank you, that means a lot to hear.

As I’ve gotten more and more into this hobby, I’ve been seeing the bicycle more as a means, not an end.
My mechanics background had me concentrating on the object of the bicycle, which I find exceedingly beautiful both mechanically and aesthetically, but without the experience...?

Vintage Tourers

'92 Cannondale frame, the rest your basic frankenbike

Started with almost original '85 Schwinn Le Tour Luxe, fair amount of modernization.

Both excellent for around town errand running or much longer touring adventures.

Newest onboard project, a 1978 Fuji Finest, shown as acquired. In flipping the hobo handlebar around, the brake lever detailing is cool.

My 1985 Miyata 610.

I switched to upright bars, 700c wheels and Shimano XT drive train and canti's.
It's a mighty fine riding machine, I think.

I picked this 85 Trek 720 a few months ago. Racks were not included but luckily I had on hand some nice front and rear touring racks (Blackburn and Tubus) and the pictured B17. If I go missing from BF for a couple months you'll know why.

Olympic 12 turns 18

This started out as an uninteresting sport bike but became my favorite. I've had lots of different touring bikes and prefer long chain stays but like something that is a bit quicker than conventional touring bikes. This bike had only one steel wheel left in the rear. The front had become a pretty good aluminum job. I was looking for a reason to fix a broken rear axle on a nice set of matrix I'd come across cheap and I had found it. A triple crank found its way into the rebuild and a little longer derailleur. I needed lower gears naturally and a rack so there you have it. I have a Klein Performance geared lower and higher than the Nishiki and love it but it was made in '87 for gosh sakes. The Klein has plush tires and a stiff frame and fits like a glove but there's something about the response of steel that is special. It's got few braze-ons but a clamp bottle holder is all you need. How many bottles can you drink from at once and, stopping to change bottles is one of the perks. A low rider may journey from the Klein. We'll see.

'86 Schwinn Voyageur:

... OK, this is actually no longer mine. It rode unbelievably great, and it's the best bike color there ever has been/will be, but it always seemed just a scosh undersized for me. So, I gave it to my sister, who needed a bike. I kept the Ideale saddle, should have kept the rack, too... oh well, FAMILY.

Here's three

I have three touring bikes. Unfortunately none of them are properly sized for my stature. Two are too big and one is too small. The first is a 1974 Schwinn Paramount P10 that is 60cm frame and is not rideable at the moment. It needs tires and grease, but otherwise in pretty good shape. It has all of its original components (Campagnolo, Cinelli, and Weinmann). I am currently trying to figure out what to do with this bike. The second is a 1993 Specialized Sequoia that is all original and has only ever been ridden for test-rides. I recently tuned it up and it is road-ready, but at 60cm it is sadly too big for me also and I am selling it. The last bike is a 1991 Schwinn Voyageur that is also all original, never ridden, tuned up and road-ready. I sold the Voyageur 2 days ago.

I’d trade you my ‘83 Voyageur in a 23”
frame for the Sequoia but it might still be too big for you and I’d definitely be getting the better deal.
