Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ungrateful Wiggo?

Apparently this is what Bradley Wiggins said during the Sky team presentation about winning TdF:

“It’s like trying to win the Champions League. You need to be at Manchester United, but I [was] playing at Wigan."

Ouch! For those of you know football and EPL, liking Garmin-Slipstream to Wigan and Sky to ManU is a bit of a cheap shot at Garmin and Jon Vaughters and all the guys worked for him during last year's tour, no?

Cool team kit though.

I think he should be traded to the Tottenham Hotspur.

I think it worked out for both of them.

Wiggo gets to be the leader on his own team & he won't have to ride support for Vande Velde, which is what he would be asked to do if Christian was riding well.

Garnin probably got a big check from Sky to buy out Wiggo's contract and they avoid the drama Astana went through at this year's tour.

What? It's not Garmin's fault that he couldn't consistently beat Armstrong, Kloden, or either Schleck up the major climbs. Never mind Contador. If you switch the TTT times of Saxo (+40) and Garmin (+18), Frank Schleck takes 4th and Wiggins takes 5th. So I'm not quite sure what it is that Garmin didn't do for him to put him in a position to win.

Do you have a link to the presentation? Curious if he's comparing Sky to Man. U. or (more likely) Astana to Man. U.

Garmin kit? Yes cool. shavey head, THX 1138 dude wrong.
