Can I be contrary here, only because it works so great for me?
Plain water (sometimes iced tea) and potato chips.
Check out the nutrition panel.
And I'm not a big potato chip guy, only have them on long or hot rides.

I actually like Vitalyte and have been using it exclusively here in very hot Tucson for the last couple of seasons. My rides go all the way to 120+ miles, unsupported. Sodium can be replenished by adding to the mix if desired.
