I think so, but some years were 1010A and some 1010B. And some in the late '70s/early '80s had the drilling for a portacatena.

So this one has been hanging around for a while, waiting for me to decide what to do with it. Ditched the 650b idea, as I've now got a PX-10 and a Trek that I've done that with. Hemming and hawing about whether to DIY paint, have the frame powder coated or professionally painted, but the 'raw bike' thread a couple days ago inspired me to wipe it down with some linseed oil and build it up as-is, so as soon as there's some decent weather I can do some riding on the bike and decide if I actually like it. 700c wheels with 35c tires from another bike, Deore RD that was in the bin (the horror....).... Together enough to spend a little time on the rollers, which pretty much tells me nothing about what riding the bike will really be like, but scratched an itch at least. And yes, I know there are no pads in the brakes.... and there's no FD, either.

I'm really hoping it warms up enough (and it's too sloppy....) that I can get it out on the road later this week to get a real feel for it.

I find 35s to be really comfy. Not the 650b experience but awfully damn nice.

Yup- those are 35s on there now- they just fit, under the rear brake bridge being the tight spot. These Paselas, or whatever they are, aren't bad, but some RH Bon Jon Pass tires would be nicer!

Oh I'm sure, I havnt had the pleasure but I do have 35mm paselas and gravel king slicks on two different bikes. Both are worlds better than 28mm anything in my book.

Just warm enough (and the roads just clean enough for a bike without fenders..) to get in a decent ride today. I like it- definitely 'racier' than my PX-10 feels. Got a set of Cyclone F & R derailleurs on the way. Did a little tire swapping around- it seemed like the Rene Herse 35s I borrowed from another bike juuuuust fit, but at the end of the ride there was a once-a-revolution rub at the brake bride. Maybe I can true-up the wheel a little bit, but I think 32s are probably the safer bet. Need to put in a few more rides to determine if it's going to be a keeper, and if so how I'm going to paint it...

Managed to get a couple more rides in and it's feeling like this one will be a keeper- it'll be my nice day/ride fast(ish...) on the 'better' roads local to me bike. A Holdsworth Pro really seems to call out for Campagnolo, but I'm going with Suntour Cyclone for now/until I find some sort of deal on a Campy Rally. Eventually want to run tubulars on this, just for the heck of it. Now to address the finish...... iconic Holdsworth orange, or something else... My guess is this was bought as a frameset and was originally a light blue/aqua color. My understanding from researching the interwebs is that by '79 Holdsworth Pros didn't have the real iconic kingfisher-blue name-bands over the orange, but simply had block lettering over the orange. Of course, nothing says I can't do it up in the (slightly) older dress.

If you can find them (currently sold out) you might try the Jack Brown Greens from Rivendell; supposedly 33 mm, and IMO a nicer tire than Pasela 35 mm (which are OK once they've had their tread worn off!). Has a nice checkerboard tread pattern. Rivendell also sells Soma's Shikoro, and there's a 33 mm version of that, with a tread pattern that's also checkerboardy.
I like the Holdsworth as-is; always good to be pragmatic about components -- the point is to ride, right?

Yup, and Cyclones sure are pretty hard to beat. TBH, I've actually never ridden a Campy-equipped bike- this bike has the the first Campy bits I've ever owned! Still, I just might be picking up a basket-case that includes a Campy Rally RD, and if I do I'll probably try it on this (knowing full well it won't perform like the Suntour stuff....), just 'cuz.

I probably should start a new thread on this, since I didn't go with the 650b conversion.......
