Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Finally got settled in at the vacation rental last night. Sunset was pretty awesome and I’m not going to complain. I’ll get some bicycle exploring in today hopefully. Lots of gravel fire roads, should have brought my other wheels.

Well that'd be a pisser, yeah. Sounds like the barometers on the tri watches - they're known to die in chlorine, which is kind of an issue for... triathletes. Never acknowledged, but they replace them, so we're waiting to see if the failures continue with the 955/255. The pedals worked for AG, though I do think Quarqs are much better. The issue is, in the watch space, Coros and Wahoo are far behind. And Apple in different ways.

Well right, but when no one else here had any idea that was rude... "hunky" is going to get said a lot. Generally as a positive, even.

I wish would've started a spreadsheet with all the words I've been surprised were in the word list when I guessed them and it actually took them.

I tried to Spoiler this, but when I try the Spoiler function, it says "Illegal Characters" or somesuch.

Today I found out WHAMO is in the list

I am aware of that term. Generally pejorative like the words for Italians, Irish, Polish, Germans etc. It's rather archaic, used through the 60's but proably faded out during the 70's. Also, its ethnic not racial but doesn't make it ok. I grew up about 70 miles from Cleveland. I'm sure it was used in the industrial North/rust belt - a popular destination for Eastern European immigrants around the late 1800's to early 1900's. I'm not sure where you grew up (New England) or your age (born around 1980) factors into why you've not heard of it.
Both sides of my family came over "on the boat" around 1900 from eastern Europe. My mom's dad was born over there.

Ok, I should have been more specific "no one in the initial group of respondents". Hardly like... certain other words. And I tend to know a lot of the words. Interesting.

Point is though, there are outright-no words, and contextual-no words. Hunky is clearly in the latter.

iPhones die in chlorine, also. New ones are supposedly water resistant but they aren’t chemical resistant.

I saw a 1962 4 door Impala like this one, including color, at Church today. I was surprised at how "small" it was.
