Bike Maintenance App?

I'm interested in a good bike maintenance app to keep track of what I do and when. Especially interested in something that will let me keep track of which tires I put sealant in and when, but it would be nice to track mileage on the chain, chainrings, cassette, brake pads, etc. I found ProBikeGarage but it has a low rating. Other apps just seem to be how-to guides and not a tracker.

So anybody got good recommendations? Also interested in one for cars if you have a favorite for that as well.

A simple spreadsheet has served me well for that purpose for the past 40 years or so. All the detail I want or as little as I want.

If you use RWGPS to track your rides then click on your bike after you've set it up in your profie. It has some tools to set up tracking the things you might want to track by the mileage you put on your bike.

I have been using Garmin Connect. I a) track all of the components that I put on my bike and b) I do a manual activity entry when I think some items need additional information/details. Then when I need some additional details I search on 'tyre sealant' or whatever. This will then show me all of the dates I did a tyre sealant change.

I thought about that (used to use a physical “log book” for my cars), and figured it would be convenient to have right in my pocket. If I can’t find an app I like, a spreadsheet will do.

I use GPS Root which shares to Strava, but I think I can have it share to RWGPS too. Gotta check if they have that as an app because right now I just use it online to plan routes.

That's what I do. A good choice if you're reasonably familiar with using a spreadsheet. You can set it up to track almost anything. If you've never used a spreadsheet much, then consider keeping a simple log in a spreadsheet or word processor, both of which can be searched. As to using a phone for this, data entry is too awkward for my use.

What's next? An App to tell you when to use the toilet?

Hmmm, might be useful for me in another 30 years.

There's an app to help you find a toilet to use...

Flush - Toilet Finder & Map 4+ - App Store

And there's a smart toilet that supposedly will analyze your poop to see if you are healthy. Or maybe it's still in development. I imagine it will have its own smartphone app.

I use an app called maintrack. It’s done an excellent job of keeping track of when I get my bike serviced, or when I do maintenance on any aspect of the bike.

I think I'm on my third laptop, second tablet, and fourth phone since I got a bound notebook and started keeping a maintenance log. I've migrated most things over and also lost a few with each device change. So while I kinda sorta understand the desire to have a life's record on a handheld device, how do you plan to maintain records long-term? Or does the planning go, "Going to get a new cell phone, I guess it's time to go shopping for n+1 bikes?"

the only time you stand to risk losing data is if you switch OS’s, I’ve got 14 years worth of data in my phone.

The last 3 times I bought a new i-phone, all the pertinent data (which I designated as such) automatically transferred over from the old one. I imagine Android phones do something similar. Not sure what would happen if I switched service providers or platforms, though.

OMG, how did we ever keep our bikes working in the 1970s? And 1980s? And 1990s?
