I was overjoyed when the Aerowind commercial finally made it to youtube!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMgYNm4Q6dM
Ride like the wind, baby!
I love how the ad copy is all about how aero it is, meanwhile, the rider's shirt is flapping in the wind.

Saw one
Bringing up an old thread as I saw one of these at a bike swap meet that is like the OPs bike. I didn’t know there was such things out there and thought other newbies might enjoy. Bike at show was beat but original but the aero brake caliper covers were broken. Not to insult any owners, but it was kinda funny in a strange sort of way. All I could think about was a bunch of engineers after work at happy hour sketching up something they could do on the cheap to enter the aero craze. Of course, when design was done, they got some bosses to the happy hour and got it approved. Fun discovering this stuff.

I was just thinking of the Huffy Areowind as today I bought a Bridgestone Grand-Velo with the Dura Ace AX components. I remember seeing the Huffy Aerowind at a Southern California Fedmart store (most of these later became Target stores), and I really wanted one. I knew it wasn’t a high quality bike, but a new Masi Gran Criterium in 1981 or so cost $1800 (close to $6k in today’s money), which was a lot more than I could afford at the $10 a week I got delivering papers. Aerodynamic bikes were something of a “thing” at that time, largely due to Shimano trying to find a market for it’s AX components. The Huffy was within my price range, and I would have gotten it except that my mom ended up surprising me with a new Schwinn Le Tour for my birthday. Anyway, the Grand Velo is a far better bike than an early 80’s Huffy, and the Dura Ace AX parts are much better than the Turd AX stuff which came on the Huffy. Even so, if I could find one of these old Huffy’s, I’d like to have it.

The Aerowind is actually turning out to be an actual C&V "niche" bike.
It might even approach and even exceed the same attention that Peugeot's Centenary aero bike gets these days.
Which proves that you don't really need the "best" of everything to have something that will give you enough satisfaction.

Watching that commercial brought back memories of what I wore while riding before I got serious about proper cycling kit:
Jeebus, was I a dweeb.

I like to think it had a crazy-long head tube
Much, much too big for me - but I didn't have a clue at the time.

I have an Aerowind bike to sell and found one online with original seat and handle bars listed for $1999 in Madison, WI. They only take trade-ins for shop credit. Wonder what my bike would sell for and where to try to sell it. Any suggestions? Thanks! Jean P.S. looks like i can't post my pictures until I have some experience on this site.
The Aerowind was not a real high end bike when it was new. Here is a hurtful comment from someone on another forum, discussing them.

Re: Huffy Aerowind!
As a mechanic, I used to have nightmares about these bikes and bikes like them. The owners were so sure they had something amazing, and for me, working on the bike was like trying to open a rusty pocket knife. They always seemed to look like the one above, even if they were only a month or so old. So many edges on those cheap crap stamped steel parts. I'd gladly drive over each one left with a bus. Line them up. I can't imagine anyone except a coke head on meth thinking these are worth anything.

Back in about 2014, the shop I worked for got a hold of one, new in the box, for a stupid low amount of money. I think we sold it for less than $250, with new tires, tubes, cables, grips, and a full overhaul since all the grease had turned to plastic in 30 years. We probably made about $10 considering the initial cost then the man-hours to make the bike rideable.
