75km on a cool and somewhat blustery day. Looking forward to the warming trend this week with temperatures turning positively springlike in the low 20s by mid-week.

Was nice to try out my new Garmin Varia radar on a longish ride today - definitely worth the price of purchase, IMO.

I really like the Garmin Varia. It is really helpful in urban areas that are not high traffic where you might get too many alerts, but like side streets. And even bike paths where other bikes are overtaking you. It also told me the railroad train was approaching, not that we share the road.

Well, after watching wallpaper strip and paint dry for a week or so including the prep to empty the room, finally got in my 16 mile loop yesterday in what might be called a small precursor to Spring.

About 16 hilly miles. It was sunny, windy and upper 40s F, so really nice riding weather.

Managed a second in a row. 22 miles and 1,200 gain in one of my usual loops, visiting large Discovery Park on bluffs above Puget Sound, down to Smith Cove Park (photo), Myrtle Edwards Park along the waterfront and through Seattle Center. My friend has no patience for photos!

Yep, not super useful on busy roads with separated bike lanes (which are relatively common here in Shanghai) but on lighter traffic roads that may not have protected bike lanes, it's super useful. Also picks up motor scooters and other cyclists, so that's useful too. Expensive, but I find it to be worth it.

34km today in beautiful spring sunshine. At 19 degrees, it was warm enough to wear my full summer kit for the first time this year, which was nice since summer kit is more comfortable than winter kit, IMO.

I'm assuming that was 19C and not 19F.

45-spot in the same area as CAT7RDR today but we missed each other. got an early am start so thinking i was leaving when he was starting.
it was a climbfest. definitely some stiffy ascents.

added a flattish, coastal, gentle, out of town 28-spot later in the afternoon. was trying to resuscitate the legs/knees. moderate success.
the beatles were right, tomorrow never knows.

Of course. Distance in metric, temperature also in metric. 🙂

15.2 and about 900 feet on the standard loop. Brisk wind and saved the toes with electric socks after the last two bone chilling rides. And the weatherman had a graphic of our increase in daylight (we don't get SUN light in the pacific northWET) - one and three-quarter hours more over March. Nice.

After a six week break for some wonderful mountain hiking and snowshoeing, I managed to get to ride twice in the last two days. Alas it's March and the snow went from looking like this:

To looking very unappetizing like this (yesterday's ride).

40 km yesterday and 33 today.

While reports are that the other side of the Cascade Curtain was in the chill, it was almost Spring on this side. The originally predicted Sat rain held off very nicely till late in the afternoon and it was bright and sunny until them. About 22 miles and about 1,200 feet of gain. The route hit the south edge of the Univ of Washington, across the 520 floating bridge to the posh east side of Lake Washington, through a few of the ahem, Five Towns (all posh) and then back across the bridge with a detour through the urban green space of Interlaken Park.

The 520 Floating Bridge with the UW on the right side at the far western end of the bridge and the Olympic Mts and Olympic National Park in the background.

Took a ride while snowing. Total of between 18 to 20km depending on the Garmin GPS or the Supercycle app.
