Garmin Edge 1000 update 15.3 to 15.5 - unable to update?
Any ideas why I am getting an error trying to update my Garmin Edge 1000 from 15.3 to 15.5?
I am working through my riding data etc finishing up the chart from last year and starting the one this year. I am also backing up all my files - both from the unit and the SD card.
I cleared and formatted the SD card so it is fresh.
I have not formatted/cleared the data on the Edge 1000. I am not sure if I want to do that - I have things set in there the way I want them. I suppose if I have to do this next that is what I will have to do, but it will require I go through all the profiles and menus to document the layouts and settings prior to wiping things so I can get things set back up the way I want - unless someone knows of a file in the file structure that I can reload to do all this post-cleaning/update?

If you are having trouble with a firmware or software update, then call Garmin. They need to know.
Are you updating the device through the Garmin Connect phone app or do you have the 1030 connected directly to your wifi?

Have you done a reset of your device? I think if your device is powered off, a soft reset will happen if you just hold the power button down until you see it going through it's processes. There is also a master reset for some Garmins that involves pushing some other buttons too. Your manual should have the procedures or just get on garmin's website and look at the manual. You might lose customized settings and data with the master reset so have your rides saved off somewhere.
Still, call Garmin Support. They have never failed to be helpful even with the old products I have that go back to 2005 or earlier.

If that was my Edge and I wanted to update it for the goodies in the new software, my next step would be to find and read the logs. If they didn't have the clue I needed I'd call Garmin and tell them what they say.

Call Garmin Support. They'll walk you through everything.
There usually are two different resets for Garmin Devices. A soft reset shouldn't cause any loss of settings or data. Just keep holding the power button till it's well into the start up process. Maybe 10 to 12 seconds. But this varies from device to device. Your device manual online will tell you.
Is your device connecting to your wifi for the update? Or is it using bluetooth through your phone or is it physically connected to a pc or mac using Garmin Express? Though I guess if you were using GE, then you would have had an error msg on your computer in GE.
