I'm 6'5" and ride a 64cm "traditional" (level top tube) road bike. Usually 60 or 61cm with the new breed of slanted top tub bikes. I pretty much just go for the biggest model they make, but sometimes that's not big enough.

5'4" and 50 or 51cm.
In my experience, the height vs size information Trek and several other manufacturers advertise is reasonably accurate:

There will always be some guy who's 6'1" and thinks it is normal to ride a 52cm, but it is more reasonable to think that the range of normal heights and normal frame sizes correlate more linearly than the tall people riding the smallest frames.

I'm half an inch taller than you (5' 8.5") and ride a size large Giant TCX. Seat tube is 56.5" and top tube is 57.5". I personally would find a 54" bike a bit small for me. We're all proportioned differently...

Hey everyone, I am trying to gather some insight on pairing frame size with height.
I always been riding a 54 cm but I am thinking about moving to a 53 cm. I am 5 feet 8 inches. I know there are a lot of factors like leg length, arm reach, etc, but still I want to know!

5-7, and I'm riding a Ridley Fenix small, which measures out at 52.

5'10".... at least I was when I was a teenager.... I suppose I don't really want to know.... 
I'll ride anything from about 54cm to about 60cm.
I still like my vintage 60cm bike. But, the sweet spot for modern-ish bikes is probably around 56cm.

5' 10" here, too. Usually ride 56cm for road bikes, although my vintage roadster is a 58cm, and it fits OK.
MTBs are ~19"/L, although MTB sizes are kind of arbitrary compared to road bikes.

5'9" and I ride a 54. When I tested bikes, 56 felt just as good. But the shop owner talked me into a 54. Ergonomically, it's just a tad better fit.
My vintage Falcon that I acquired for free is a 60. I can ride it fine, but the nut rubbage bothers me. Not that I ever have both feet on the ground while straddling the bike, but still....

BITD, the recommendation was 9"-10" less than (cycling) inseam with a 1"-2" clearance. I'm not sure why that's changed. My inseam is a little under 31". I'm between 5'6" and 5'7". My bike it has a 21"/54 cm seat tube and a 22"/56cm top tube. I can ride a 58 cm bike, but when I did, I came down on the top tube once in an emergency. 58 cm is too big. 
I can ride 50 cm, too, but I'm too cramped. In fact, I feel pretty cramped on 21" ST/21" TT bikes.
I started riding my bike in 1982. I pretty quickly settled on a 12 cm stem. A couple of years ago, I ran my measurements through Competitive Cyclist's calculator, which came out with French Fit recommendations of 22" ST, 22" TT, 12 cm stem.

I am 5' 7" and currently on Trek 52cm frame Crossrip 1. Always rode 54 before and had lower back pain, not so with the 52 frame.

5'11" and i usually ride a 58 or 23 inch, but i prefer short top tubes.

6'2", and it's either 58, 59, or 61 depending on what each manufacturer choses to call their "large" frame. Compared to my old 61cm KHS CX frame, my 59cm Ritchey CX frame is bigger in almost every dimension.

5'7" and I ride a 54cm Ironman although I do have one 52cm Ironman that is maxed out on saddle height.
Interestingly, a riding partner bought a 52cm Ironman from me and although he's my height, his saddle is much lower.

I’m 6’0” with shortish legs for my height and I have three bikes: a 56, a 57 and a 58. The 56 is a little small, but works with a long stem and seatpost.
